AnnieP
Well, I'm not convinced: Have set up an account, but not received any activation email..... I'll probably get bombarded with even more SPAM now!
AnnieP
OK. Managed to get through the registration nightmare, and it actually looks very promising. Basically, you type in the isbn of any books you have to swap (I've entered 12 in about as many minutes). All the details appear, you then list the condition and away you go.... You then hunt for a book you want, and they send your list of books to the person you selected to choose one from it. Don't know what happens after that: I think you both just exchange addresses and send off, so it basically costs the price of the postage. I'm off to the "what are you reading" thread now, to find one to select. Will report back with any progress. I'd say its worth a go if any of you are interested. kannie
I've used this website: http://www.greenmetropolis.com/ - not quite the same, but it seems to work fine. I've bought and sold through it.
Sheilaz
We have a great Oxfam bookshop in St.Albans. Except it's impossible to go in without coming out with a full bag & no money. I keep trying to take in more than I buy, but between us it's not working. We also sell a few paperbacks in my general Oxfam so it's hard to resist, but at least I can take them in easily. So, don't forget Oxfam if you have one nearby. Although those sites do look interesting....
AnnieP
I have swapped my first book! I have received "round Ireland with a fridge" for a book I sent! Utterly brilliant!
Helly Welly
I used to be registered on this but could never get a book i wanted and "Ooops, word censored!"ody wanted mine either so i gave up. Regulsr trips to Oxfam are far more productive for me, last time i went i came out with 21 books

AnnieP
You are cheeky! Do you think Jonnie will notice that all his Rupert Bear annuals are slowly disappearing??
Popcorn
Hey - Annie, Rupert Bear is back. He's been animated and is all 3D now. Quite good actually. Quite pleasant to watch at 7.30am! Talking of old annuals. My Mum had a clear out in her loft recently and has sent me some of my old Jackie Albums and Twinkle and Grange Hill with Tucker Jenkins, Gripper Stebson and Zammo McGuire! I wonder if they will be worth soemthing some day?
AnnieP
Some of Jonnie's Rupert albums are worth around £80 each! Gripper Stebson!! I remember those so well! Jonnie had a boss who he nicknamed Gripper.......... I also had Twinkle annuals..... My favourite was Jinty: Anyone else have this?
Egluntyne
I don't recall hearing of Jinty......I'm from the Bunty and Judy era....the Four Mary's et al!

AnnieP
I just want to say to anybody who is interested, this website is certainly working for me. I have had a clear out of books which I have read and don't particularly want to keep.... I have registered with this service and so far have successfully swapped 5 books! I now have, sitting in a pile, waiting to read: travels round Ireland with a fridge, Stardust Number 1 ladies' detective agency the abortionists daughter and poodles at dawn. I might be gone some time........
