harveypup
Went out o the Eglu this afternoon (in the pouring rain!) to fill up the grub and was amazed to see a big fat frog sitting in there with the girls. First reaction was as I have read some pretty gruesome stories on here about chooks and frogs but they paid him absolutely no attention at all. Maybe he liked the stylish design of their abode, complete with silver starred shower curtain and thought he would move in for a while..... Hope he doesn't tell all his froggy friends

The Dogmother
We've got a toad who hangs out near the eglu - he's way too fat for my girls to eat him though. I reckon that he thinks my garden is a swamp

Guest
One of mine ate a frog last year and it was very gruesome. We had a frog on the doorstep a few nights ago, but I'm hoping it's hopped away to safety now.
Egluntyne
Just a funny little frog story... When my daughter was about 3 we went for a walk with my Dad. We stopped to look at a pond in someone's front garden and my daughters said "Oh Look Grandad...that kind little frog is giving his friend a piggy back" My dad thought this was hysterical...I'd never seen seen anyone litterally go purple before.....trying to suppress his laughter! My girls prefer the tiny slugs.....They don't go for the big black and orange ones!! I'm not keen myself! Where's a hedgehog when you need one! Helly Welly
My girls will grab a big slug then shake it around until its insides fall out, then they refuse to eat it I haven't seen any frogs in our garden since we got the chickens, we used to get loads of frogs. Please don't tell me they're eating them, that's gross!! OH used to run them over with the lawnmower, accidently, and we'd be left with twitching legs on the freshly cut grass

Popcorn
I'm in the club too. That's gross. Whole grain mustard would be far better... Our next door neighbours have frogs. If the chooks don't get them then the cat certainly does if they venture over our way. No wonder he's just replaced the hedge with a fence! Buffie - we get slugs in the peanut feeders and more often than not I forget to check when I put my hand fill them up.....eeewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

Popcorn
*shudders* I'm not a huge fan of froggies close up, and I think I'd pass out if I saw one in my bookcase! I came home from work once and didn't spot one on my doorstep until I was really close-up. Gave me the heeby jeebies and had to go and get said neighbour to pick it up for me. Christian
In my old terraced house, I had a watering system for the veg plot and pots on the patio. It would come on at 10 every night. About 5 mins before it came on, frogs would start appearing on the patio, waiting for the water . Most nights we would sit out after dinner and chill and chat, you know, shorts and t shirt no shoes etc but one night a horrible slimey frog jumped on my foot! I freaked out completely! I can't stand them, they make my skin crawl! I found a field mouse in the dropping tray of the eglu the other day It ran away with Laverne chasing after it. It escaped and hasn't been back! So I end up jabbing it with a stick and it then falls in the food, which sticks to it
