What a relief :D ........having read the title I expected the worst for Liquorice and the girls :anxious: ............at least it was only veggies which are no more :wink:

Me too, I thought something very nasty had happened to the girls, glad that the girls are ok, they look lovely, sorry about the veg though :( .

I really like the buff orpington (if thats what she is)

And the frizzle cockerel ...

I have a question for you , because the cockerel is the orpington's son does she still look after him ?

Yes, the big buff is an Orpington. She'll be two next week (hatched 22nd April 2008). I did have a pair, and it was the other one of the pair that hatched the pekins last Summer. She was a fantastic Mum, but sadly she suffered a severe prolapse when she came back into lay and had to be put to sleep :(. Anna, the remaining orp has a totally different character. She shows no maternal instinct what-so-ever and never showed any interest in the Pekin chicks, not even when her sister passed on. Liquorish (the cockerel ) may be quite small, but he's quite capable of looking after himself and does a great job of keeping all 'his girls' under control.
