Snowy
Well done you, your new chooks look lovely, I'm sure they'll be very happy with you. And believe it or not, I guessed Annie and Clarabel, but didn't post it as I thought it was only my boys that were obsessed with Thomas!! Great names anyway! Great names anyway! My son won't thank me for this (as he's nearly 15) but Thomas was his favourite (along with Postman Pat) as a child and at Christmas we were in the loft and found all his Thomas trains which had to come down for a quick play. Notice they haven't gone back up in the loft yet Whilst they were out we all thought how lovely the names Annie and Clarabel would be if we got more chookies

Don't know why mine didn't think of them as they chose the names for ours! So we ended up with tweenies and fimbles instead. And my little ones are only obsessed with Thomas because of videos that we still had from when my 15 year old was little - they don't like to part with anything do they? Tina C
Ahhh they look lovely. And very happy and alert too. I can't wait to get ours now, but still don't have the date confirmed. I see they have pellets - are they eating them OK? Do you have mash for them as well? Just wondering as I feed my current two pellets but I was going to get mash for the new girls. But what I want to know is why that purple eglu is green or have I missed something? Have fun with them tomorrow. Tina
feemcg
Congratulations on the arrival of the new girls - they look in a lot better nick than my brown chicken (who decided to have a partial moult and not grow any feathers back!) I'm sure they'll be very happy!

hillfamily
Ahhh they look lovely. And very happy and alert too. I can't wait to get ours now, but still don't have the date confirmed. I see they have pellets - are they eating them OK? Do you have mash for them as well? Just wondering as I feed my current two pellets but I was going to get mash for the new girls. But what I want to know is why that purple eglu is green or have I missed something? Have fun with them tomorrow. Tina They were on layers mash when we collected them but it was suggested that we mix in some pellets to add a bit of something different. I've put just pellets in their grub but they have a bowl with a mix of mash and pellets because Annie can't use the grub as she only has one good leg and prefers just to stand by her bowl and eat (although she will eat either mash or pellets). Well observed Tina - they are in the green eglu. The original plan was that we would get a few (wasn't sure 2, 3 or 4) at the next rescue which we are also helping at. However Sarah (Sussex BHWT coordinator) phoned me this week because she had to keep 8 chooks back from the January rescue as they had additional problems and couldn't be rehomed at that time. They had over the pass 4/5 weeks, improved sufficiently to now go to homes that could deal with chooks with long term problems. We felt very honoured that Sarah thought we could give a home to such girls and so we willingly agreed. Of the 8 chooks 3 had very bad problems (Annie) and Sarah had chosen 3 homes and wanted each of us to one very bad chook and then a share of the remaining girls (who were mainly very very underweight - Clarabel). As we ended up with only 2 we decided to put them in the green mark one and move our exsisting girls into bigger purple mark2 - the aim is that in a few weeks they will all have integrated and will move into the purple mk2 together, leaving the mk1 empty..................... hillfamily
As it's been such a horrible wet and rainy day today, I took pity on Annie and Clarabel and let them spend the day in the Conservatory Clarabel and Annie Annie Clarabel And Clarabel laid an today I think Annie is moulting - lots of feathers everywhere

hillfamily
That's Hunny Bunny's indoor house - She's a House Bunny and gets to run about all the time. She just has a hutch indoors to keep her food and water in and her litter tray and she's got a rablu for when she's outside.
