Maria's babies are here with pics

Recommended Posts

I have just been out to check on the ladies and found a recenty hatched cuckoo pekin out of the nest. She is not very warm but still breathing so I have popped her in the inccubator to warm up and dry off....she has perked up already so fingers crossed she will survive her mums neglect  .

I have also brought in the last remaining egg that Maria was sitting on. It has pipped so fingers crossed it will continue

Maria has been sacked as resident broody and will be locked out of the house tomorrow! Get her fed up a bit and then introduce her back into the bantam flock. My silkie maybe prone to broodiness but she isn`t very good at the brooding!

Just caught up on this Em, what a minx Missy Maria is  , but what lucky little Pompoms to have you as a surrogate mum :D .....and Justin will come round, he usually does doesn't he :anxious:

Scout is utterly gorgeous........I'm on the phone as I type to try & get hold of some eggs to plant under the Pancake Banshee.......oh :P it's an answerphone  ........patience is not one of my virtues :anxious: .......not sure of DH's response, though I doubt it will be overly favourable to start with

Ooo wassup Em :anxious: , hope it's nothing too yukky or painful  but what better distraction than a set of fluffy pompoms :D

I'm hoping for some more Pekins, DS's godmother's hubby has a beautiful pair of lavenders at home and some others up at his stable, with a small portion of luck I might get a mixture  .....I'd like to have some different colours (ie not the lavender, MF & buff which I already have  so I can tell them apart  ) but I'll take whatever he has so the little minx can have something to concentrate on

I've been turfing her off for "comfort breaks" & she's so different to Buffie who came off the nest in a trance & seemed to stay that way :? ....she bombs around the run.......having a bit of grass.....throws herself into the inside dustbath........out of the DB over to the water for a drink...then a few pellets...back to the grass...another dustbath outside.......more water..........all accompanied by a running commentary and punctuated with pecks at and from the other Pekins........and all done at a breakneck speed  Hysterical to watch though

DS's GM's DH (are you keeping up :anxious: ) also has a buff Orpington boy.....I have a vague thought that I might borrow him for a short holiday with my Orpies & see if was can get some Pepsi/Bumbles :) ...I'm sure you'll try & talk me out of it though...such a daft idea

Ooo ooo ooo....why isn't my phone ringing with news of BTBs being available for the brat to sit on :anxious:

They are truly scrummy Em, those darling little feathery toots :D .....I wonder how long it would take me to pop up & have a little snuggle  ......though I suspect my handbag would be frisked before I left  Can't come up anyway so you are safe...I have match-watching duties to attend to  ........Tootles (as DD insists on saying :wall: )
