Mooresey
We (John & Andrea) *waves*, are new to this we are getting an eglu today and 3 chucks. I was wondering what is the best item you have bought that makes keeping chickens easier?

Chucky Mama
Nothing to do with the Eglu but I love my Egg Skelter. Makes using the eggs in the correct order easy peasy.

Torrin
My cube, obviously, and aubiose - wonderful stuff My WIR, costly but huge benefits
chelsea
No question : Aubiose.
ISCA
For me it is the VSBi automatic pop hole opener/ closer with timer. A boon as I work shifts and like a lie in! I don't know if it works on Omlet eglus or cubes though. Omlet chicken netting and my Woodenart run also make life easier
Isabel
This is only Day 3 for me but without a doubt it has to be Aubiose. I can't get it in NI and had to have it sent from England but by golly I'll keep on paying a postage premium - it's brilliant!!
madchickenlady
My super new Chook Palace Aubiose (brilliant stuff) A stiff broom for mucking out Wellies
docsquid
Definitely Hemcore (like Aubiose). Fantastic stuff, no smelly poos and really easy to clean out the run and the poo trays/nest box. After that, probably the Omlet netting. Without that they'd be permanently in the house!
chickenNutter
Omlet netting - has quite literally saved my garden. Did blanche initially at the cost, but it is worth it. Eglu (obviously) makes chicken keeping so easy.
Tony
Six kids. They all love cleaning out the chickens... Well I think they do anyway. Tough if they don't
Olly
Presumably the children bring other benefits as well! My walk-in run, but that's a BIG thing. So on a day to day basis - another vote for aubiose, definitely.
Debby Tutton
Okay ALL STOP, what is aubiose ???
Tony
Okay ALL STOP, what is aubiose ??? It's bedding. Not sure about aubiose but I use Hemcore which is chopped up hemp stalks. It's excellent stuff. I assume aubiose is the same by anther name.
Redwing
Hemcore and Aubiose are very similar, I think one is made of hemp stalks and one is made of another part of the plant - think it may be the stuff inside the stalks... Debby - Aubiose is French - You should be able to source some of this wonder product
Ain't Nobody Here
Walk in run and Omlet netting . (And Easibed - another form of bedding, before you ask .)
Debby Tutton
Re Auboise - never come across this before. But as for bedding I use shredded newspaper. I change it every couple of days but have lots of people who save it for me and it only takes a sec to stick through the shredder. Of course if they poo in there I change it but it soaks up most undesirable things. So my most useful thing is my paper shredder oh and a vileda shaped (oval) bucket which is the perfect size for the perches to fit in when I scrub them (hubby bourght it for me after I suggested using the swimming pool ). Oh and big metal dustbin to store the feed.
aqualiv
Ok due to you all raving about auboise I have been out and bought some! Made a fool out of myself at the checkout because I had no idea how to pronounce it Its now in their run and they are kicking it everywhere! Water container is full of it so will have to refill it for the 3rd time today Do you put it in their nest area? Olivia

sewitall
Cat litter poop scoop for picking up poo in the WIR. Hemcore or Aubiose bedding. Spare clip-on small plastic feeders for grit, extra food station for shy hens to eat without being pecked at.
