Yankee Candles

Recommended Posts

I've always loved these & bought a few samplers today to try. I'm loving fruit salad! Mmm mm mmmm.

I also bought... cherry blossom, midnight jasmine, vanilla cupcake & strawberryb buttercream. I'll see what I like best then buy a couple of large jars. Not had any since the Xmas before last they lasted ages.

So what are your favourites & where is best to buy them from? I got mine today from Trentham Gardens.

The first time I have ever seen these for sale was in the gift shop at Drayton Manor theme park! I got a couple of little ones to try - vanilla and vanilla lime. Both gorgeous, both unlit but in my bedroom and I can smell them everytime I go upstairs! Lovely 8)

Generally, I go for the 'foody' types myself - blueberry scone, fresh roast (coffee), vanilla cupcake, christmas cookie. When it's summery I quite like island guava (it's the strongest one I've ever had - scents the whole downstairs), midnight jasmine and mango peach salsa.

For brilliant value I've never beaten a shop in Huddersfield town centre - Mellow Moments. They sell all types half price from the wax melters to large jars. They have lots of types I've never seen in other stores. Gained quite a large collection though now and can always justify buying more....

If Huddersfield isn't in your vicinity, QVC do some pretty good packages. It's always worth checking out.

I got one (my one and only one! :D ) from Freecycle - Cranberry Chutney. The lady had only burnt it a few times, it's practically unused. I was very cynical of them because of the cost and they're "only candles" but I have to say it's the only scented candle that actually seems to release proper perfume instead of just "candle" smell.

Can't afford any more but am keeping my eyes open on Freecycle :D

I've got 2 little Pomegranate Cider ones and they are sooooooooo fruity smelling - even unlit.

Most of the other scented candles I've bought have lost their perfume really quickly, even the PartyLite ones smell lovely unlit but are rather disappointing when lit. I use the PL ones in my china cupboard so that each time I open one of the doors I get a Sea shore scent or whatever I've popped in there.

Although rather expensive Yankee candles 'do what it says on the tin' or rather jar. :D

Haven't tried these...but my favourite smell is Island Living (and the heavier "Night "one too) from Crabtree and Evelyn. Ridiculously expensive, and I haven't actually bought one yet because of this..but I am the sad person who goes in to check regularly if they are on sale...(not yet :( )
