ISCA
Congratulations. They look great! Does your Orpington have feathered legs or is it just me not seeing properly?
Toots
yes she does! i didn't know if that was normal or not?
ISCA
yes she does! i didn't know if that was normal or not? It's not normal for an Orpington. There may have been some Cochin out-breeding in the past and this is a throwback in her genes. Or is she a Cochin (I do not know them well enough to comment, am sure others on here can)? It's not breed standard for Orps but it's not a problem (unless you had planned to show her). She will at least have warm legs in the winter

chicken bark
I have two new girls too, although not managed with the photos yet. I have Pakora the Silver Hamburgh and Pasanda the Cream Legbar.... I have Hamburghs on my wish list. I think they will be too flighty for my set up though. Everyone (including me ) has got some lovely new hens today. Lets hope they all settle in well. welovemarmite
well i clipped her wing when i got her yesterday, and she hadn't been handled too much. But I have given her a couple of cuddles so far today and slowly I think we will get there... We have a walk in avary but we do let them out to free range id we are here all day. Will have to wait for her to be a lot bigger before she is allowed to free range as she may be too tempting for the cats at her current size... Toots
I let the older girls free range and let them see the new girls. even put some treats just outside the new girls run. there wer no stand offs, fuss or anything. On sunday i let them all out together, there was a little bit of " oi im boss here ok" and "i was looking at that snail give ith here it's mine" but that was it!
