Look what we've done - at last!

Recommended Posts

At long last we are done  . Few hold ups like taking 6hrs to put on the door and in the end taking it down to its component parts and rebuilding it. Remaking the roof because it was sagging and then we put the corrugated pvc on upside down so it collected water in the joins  soon fixed with clear Duck Tape :D . Had to secure it to the concrete then seal it all round because water poured in under the front when it rained  Also sealed the floor because the concrete was just producing loads of dust. Phew how do the joiners get it done in an hour and a half

Just sorting out some pics. :D

The girls approved of the dustbath. There were some extra bits of timber which OH made a dustbath with. However when I spoke to Chris about the roof he said they were extra supports  . I didn't tell him what we had done :anxious::lol: .

Tutti, noticed on your signature that one of your girls was "snook in" how did you manage that?

Well... I hope you're sitting comfortably as it wasn't easy!

DH wanted a blue egg layer so I was allowed to pick a new chook as well :) We'd gone on holiday and our breeder was boarding our original girls so we collected them and the two newbies on the Saturday when we got back from hols. Only it was one of the first flights after the volcano so we were both very tired  So the very next day (sings "early one morning just as the sun was shining") when he was very tired, I just happened to mention that I've always, always, always (you get the idea) wanted a White Star and if we didn't get one now, we wouldn't be able to for ages as we'd have to wait for one of the others to go on The Big Free Range In The Sky. I also said that if he said no, I'd never mention it again.

He had no resistance and his argument wavered. All he could manage was, "if you're ready in 5 minutes and drive to the farm"... I was ready with the engine running in 4 :D

Sorry Poet! A mini hijack there. Yes, I balance beautifully on branches :D Thank you kindly, I'll be on the next bus. (But if you could put a mini trampoline and some Tena ladies in there, that would really help ;) )

Thanks PH, letting them settle in at present :D

do you have a slope to your pvc roof?

How deep is the run, from front to back?

Looks fantastic !

There is a slope to the pvc roof its built into it, about 2 1/2" from front to back, been tested by heavy rain last week and runs into guttering at the back. Its 7 foot deep - well 7 ft 4in including front and back. It's an odd size but I wanted to get it as big as I could. :D
