millymollymandy
After ages of being miserable myself and my OH have decided to move from our big lovely house with chickens in the garden to a little terrace house without. We both work for OH family business and work stupid hours and a stupid number of days. However we have both been miserable since we moved away from all our friends to be nearer the business a few years ago. We thought that if we had a nice big house and holidays and nice stuff that it would make up for the fact that we never saw our friends anymore and a social life was a thing of the past. After both being miserable for ages we have decided too rent out our gorgeous big house and move back to reading and rent a little house where we can be near everyone again. It does mean i fear that the chickens will have to go but the plan is to keep the cube and then in a year hopefully buy our own house and bring back the chickens. I am very excited and sad at the same time but there needs to be a balance of work and life which we don't have now. Hopefully things will work out and i won't be chickenless for long. BeckyBoo
Well done you for making a tough decision, once a chicken owner, always a chicken owner though and I think it's a state of mind, something you will both take with you wherever you go. Friends and family are SO important and sometimes it takes leaving them to make us realise. I hope the move brings you all the happiness and balance you need BeckyBoo

yvonne
Good for you. We are in a similar boat; moved from the Reading area to Somerset and a big house etc, but I really miss my old haunts and the "big place in the country" does not make up for being so isolated and away from old friends. We are mulling over the same decision, it's good to see we are not the only ones ! Hope it all goes well.
Olly
A tough decision, but sounds as if you've thought it through - my friends are my lifeline, and I'd hate to move away from them. And who knows - maybe you'll be able to find a house, even a rented one, where you can have chooks - you don't need a huge garden, after all. I really hope it works out for you. TheGirlsMum
The big house in the country isn't for everyone else the country would be full......I admire you for being able to step back and be happy. My OH made me think it through for ages before he'd let me leave the city to live here but fortunately for me it was exectly the right move, enjoy the rest of your life how you wish to live it.
