Ain't Nobody Here
Number 1 on the list is a mile or so down the road from me . Top 10 unusual pubs Any other Omleteers frequent any of the others?
Goosey Lucy
OH took me to The Crooked House once upon a time. Most bizarre to see a marble roll 'uphill'
Looney
So ANH, is the pub as unfriendly as the report says then?! I have walked past the one in Bury St Edmunds but never been in for a drink. I have had a drink and a delicious rabbit pie in the Lord Nelson, I had a half pint of one of their speciality beers - very nice too. I have also been to the Haunch of Venison in Salisbury, a few years ago now though.
fluffyfeet
The Crooked House (or Glynne Arms) is only 5 mins away from me, and still makes me giggle watching other people who've never been before trying to work out why the floor doesn't slope the same way as the walls/windows/curtains. They still have the ball on the bar so that you can see it roll uphill Goosey Lucy. I don't know if anyone remembers the earth tremor that happened in Sept 2002 - the epicentre was almost directly under that pub!!!! It's a wonder it's still standing..... Definitely worth a visit if you are ever in this area. Dawn x
bluekarin
I go to the Haunch of Venison, Salisbury every now and then. The hand keeps of being nicked and turining up in odd places. Does some nice whisky and beer. Service is a bit on the unpredictable side as they like to serve their regulars first - even if they have just come in and you've been waiting a while
patsylabrador
I quite like the 'Royal Standard' near Beconsfield. The entrance is wobbly and one of the walls is a giant barrel. Much of the furniture is old church pews. I think it was used for the pub scenes in Hot Fuzz.
