I feel a campaign coming on....

Recommended Posts

I have outlined the problem and posted a link to this thread on Jamie's wall.

http://www.facebook.com/pages/jamie-oliver/46166353920?ref=search&v=wall

This is a better page than the link I posted earlier which is in support of his American campaign. The link above is Jamie Oliver himself. I hope he reads it!

I also thought I could do similar on the BHWT FB page.

Thanks very much Ginette - I did email the BHWT, both via my contact and on a generic email address, but haven't had a reply from them, or Hugh F-W.

This is a subject which a lot of people will feel very passionate about, so perhaps they will see the light and change to free range.

IMPORTANT MESSAGE TO THREAD POSTERS

Hi Chaps,

Just a quite note on this thread. It is apparently not permitted for emails to be copied across to the forum (privacy issues). I have pm'd everyone who has email content in their posts asking that they remove the direct quote and to perhaps replace them with summaries. As not everyone concerned visits regularly to collect pms, I will edit out any email quotes this evening if they have not been edited by the posters. If your post gets edited because you don't get there in time, please feel free to go back in and post your summaries when you can :D

..great campaign :D

Chucky Mama - Is it OK to quote your own emails? Is it just other people's you cannot quote?

I think that your own emails are OK, just not those sent to you. I am happy to be corrected if I'm wrong.

I am sure it is fine to quote your own emails. Unless you plan on suing yourself

No deletions - they're just lower down - a pic of a quiche in a box and this text:

Our new deep-fill delights

Inspired by our scrumptious soup flavours, our Chefs pondered long and hard over how to evolve them into other delicious recipes. The results are these new deep-fill delights. Decadent enough for a sunny garden party, yet hearty enough for any grey day.

I'd like to know where this comes from - does anyone have a reference please ?

There was no mention in the email I was sent saying that the message was confidential, for my eyes only or any limitations on use (I get plenty of emails that do have limitations on their use). It was not a 'personal' email but one that proported to come from the customer relations dept. - ie official view of company.

I have removed my posts for now but could you give me more info on these 'deep illegalities' please ?

Hazel, it was a 'personal' email to you. Direct communication between you and NCG. Intended for you to read.

Do I have to type 'for personal use only. Must not be copied, quoted, or used without my express permission' under everything I write now?

Having studied a bit of IT and Data Protection law, I have never come across anything about not quoting from emails or any form of correspondence, UNLESS both parties have entered a confidentiality contract. Quote away!

We have very politely asked all involved not to quote, A chickychickychick-ENN. This has been discussed at length and a decision was reached to not allow it on this forum. Thank you.

Hazel, I am not a fan of this kind of, for want of a better word 'censorship'. However, we have been advised that allowing copied emails could be a problem. I think that not being able to post exact copies of the emails makes such a small difference in the success of the campaign that it is sensible to heed this advise.

Let's not be sidetracked from the ethos of this campaign which looks like it is gathering speed :D

Yes - (legally / professionally) I think so. About half the emails I recieve every day have a footnote outlining rules.

I work in a University (Medical School) in IT and have a lot of contact with NHS staff and we have to be aware of Data Protection, confidentiality, professionalism, Intellectual Property Rights etc. and so I do have some experience of this sort of thing. I am always aware that the emails I write may get passed on.

I accept Omlets decision on this although I disagree with it. I would always rather see the original statements of people/companies (ie direct copies) rather than other peoples summaries/interpretations of the information which may omit key data ( and may be open to challenge through grounds of being incomplete / out of context)

Back to the campaign then! Who is on Facebook??? There must be quite a few of us (and if not, you can join up). NCG Food Co have a page and the link has been provided in an earlier post. I've written some comments on their page. If more of us do so it will be very embarrassing for them (I would have thought). I'm sure they won't like to be bombarded with negative comments. :shameonu::shameonu::shameonu::shameonu:

They have a blog post here which I've commented on, though I'm not sure it shows to anyone else yet! You have to register to be able to comment, but come on you campaigners who aren't on FB etc, register here and get commenting!

If you've posted about it elsewhere, could you add the details here so we can comment too. Emailing them is all well and good, but we have to make this public to get more people on the bandwagon.
