Does anyone know if it is illegal to take alcohol into cinemas? I have been to a couple of Everyman cinemas where you can order a bottle of wine to be brought to your sofa, but I have heard a rumour that it is illegal to take alcohol into some cinemas.

 

Does anyone know if this is true?!!

I don't honestly know but Everyman are such a great cinema with such a lovely ethos.

By us the Vue cinema has Gold Class for 18's only.

Posh electric reclining leather sofa's, and there is a bar to buy alcohol

 

Maybe just phone and ask the cinema?

I don't think it's illegal, as too many places sell it.

I don't think it's illegal as most cinemas have bars thesedays.

 

Have to say when we went to see "Sex In The City 2", we took in some small bottles of wine and it wasn't a problem xxx

It depends on which cinema you go to, if the cinema has no licence for selling alcohol, then it is illegal to consume alcohol on the premises. Licensing Act 2003

Agree with the vue cinema and gold class bit, it's fantastic, lovely seats and a bottle of wine.

 

At the Printworks in Manchester you can also take alcohol into the premier seating bit.

Our cinema has popcorn and pop most of which has been spilt on the floor. You're lucky not to get stuck the floor.

Not at Cineworld....

I don't think it is common as not seen in a number of cinemas. I think it is more about not bringing your own though.

 

Alcohol and Food Policy: No alcohol, food or soft drink may be brought onto the premises. Only food and drink bought on the premises may be consumed on the premises. Alcohol may only be purchased and consumed in Cineworld licensed bar areas or in licensed screens and licensing laws will be strictly enforced.

My local Reel has a bar....and you take the drinks in if you wish.....as a teen I took bottle of Thunderbird *shudders* into the flicks with me!
