coco
Like a lot of people I use horse bedding in my house and run. Lily laid a softie on Sat evening and the silly girl ate it along with a lot of the bedding. She now has an impacted crop anmd is feeling very sorry for herself. We have been to the vet as she has had it for 48 hours and he said to just keep giving her water or cod liver oil and massaging the crop. I just hope this works although she was a bit brighter tonight.

lillybettybabs
I had a chicken that kept eating Aubiose, We had to have her pst as she wasn't thriving, I often wonder if she had a blockage in her intestine from eating it. I now use Bedmax large flakes it's to big to even think about eating.
MarkBevBen
Thanks for the warning Coco and Lilybetbabs too. We don't use horse bedding for our girls. Hope Lily is feeling better soon Coco xx
coco
Touch wood she seems to be getting back to her usual stroppy self. Syringing water in to a chicken covered in ukadex [she was sprayed at the weekend.] is lovely [not] especially at 6.30 in the morning. After much crop massaging it seems to be going down, I'm now covered in smelly spray and cod liver oil. Things we do for our girls.
Plum
Yuk poor you but glad she is recovering. Bedding can be quite vicious, I say that having had some stuck in my sock and stood on it, ouch!

Burtie14
Interestingly we had to remove aubiose from Betty's nostrils at the weekend. We're not totally sure if she has got a bit of a cold and so has a runny beak as well, but she certainly had a lot of dried cack all round her nostrils. To be fair she didn't seem remotely bothered by it.
