Cinnamon
Can anyone recommend some good quality welly warmer? I have just kitted out the family with new winter wellys, but all the warmers I have found seem a little poor in quality, with nasty lumpy seams, which look uncomfortable. My eldest also needs them extra warm,as she had very poor circulation.
ali-s
I've got a pair of Dublin welly liners. They are a long fleece sock with a wide cuff at the top. Last winter mine were in use all the time and doubled up as slipper socks in the house, they don't fall down when worn without a welly and are very comfy. I've got very bad circulation too and they were a godsend. Bought mine from a local horse/farm shop for about £7.00. A quick google just now and the prices range from £5(out of stock on that site) to about £15.

SJChick
Hi I got some nice thick, navy, fleeces ones from Hawkshead a couple of years ago in their sale and I've still got them. They are great with wellies but would fall down without the boots on. I don't know if they still do them but it might be worth a look on the website. yvonne
I bought some Muck Boots last year which are part-neoprene wellies and incredibly snug and toasty (think they have been discussed on this forum)- if not shops for farmers sell some rather ugly looking, but very effective foot warmers which are like small blue slippers which work far better that sox. scarlettohara
I think Hunters are pretty good - they are doing fur ones this year. They start at at about £15. If you want luxury though try the Dubarry ones (different types of fake fur tops) for £
Cinnamon
Thanks all. I now need to find somewhere that does hot pink ones & plain black ones Never easy with teen daughters.
ubereglu
Joules do some really nice, fluffy and warm allsorts socks and now do welly warmers too-think they've only got red and yellow in at the minute though-they're £
The Dogmother
Liz, a quick question about Joules wellies while we're (sort of) on the subject.... I have spotted these Do you know what the top part is made out of? They look like ideal snow boots to me
Cranfield Kate
I got some from a website last year AND they were hot pink. doesn't look like they are doing hot pink this year but faux fur might work just as well. http://www.presentsformen.co.uk/find.asp?brand=2&name=welly warmers my pink ones were fleecy and radically improved the quality of my life. not bad for a couple of quid! Angie
I hate to say this but my boot socks are hand made...... suitable sock wool and 5 double ended needles, and three days later a pair of socks. Fav wool is Opal and Noro sock wool cost about 6pds a pair.

The Dogmother
Liz, a quick question about Joules wellies while we're (sort of) on the subject.... I have spotted these Do you know what the top part is made out of? They look like ideal snow boots to me Well, I tracked a pair of these down to Dornoch Outdoor in Scotland (all the Joules shops and their online shop have sold out), ordered a pair of size 3s. they are absolutely lovely.. waterproof, tough and fur lined too... BUT one boot was about a whole size smaller than the other, despite both being marked as the same size, so wearing that boot was very uncomfortable, despite me being a very slim size 2.5! I called them up and they couldn't have been more helpful - I am returning this pair (they will refund the postage) and they will send out anew pair for me *grins* Let's hope that they don't split and start to leak like the Cotton Traders ones
Snoxy
I bought my 5 year old daughter a pair of these http://www.amazon.co.uk/Hunter-Kids-Fleece-Welly-Socks/dp/B002TLSPFU in bright pink from Clinkards last week...she loves them...they do fall down when not worn with wellies though...but she wears slipper socks in the house in the winter time She is trying them for warmth before I consider buying a pair of 'snow boots'...we are walking to school (after 14 years of doing the school run by car)...and loving it...but having cold feet can be miserable I bought a pair of these http://www.charlesclinkard.co.uk/womens-c1/boots-c3/romika-colorado-warm-lined-boot-p3107 last week as I have plantar fasciitis...it is a bonus that they are waterproof, fur-lined and very comfortable They don't look as 'shiny' in real life
lillybettybabs
Being outside in all weathers and having VERY bad circulation has made me into a bit of a welly nerd My findings are as follows. If you wear wellies alot buy the best you can afford, They will pay for themselves. For warmth and comfort i have found that neoprene lining to be the best thing to look out for, For picking up and working with dogs i do a lot of walking, These are my best finding, I have had the same pair for 3 yrs now 100s of miles later that are only just starting to wear at the heel. http://www.outofthecity.co.uk/aigle-parcours-iso-p-1256.html If you need warmth but your feet sweat this will cause them to chill in the wrong welly (my other halfs problem) I have found that leather lined wellies are the best, They keep his feet warm but wick away any sweat! If you are going for a cheap option and only wear now any again go for the thickest sole possible and invest in some skiing socks or Alpaca wool socks. Also these liners are good ( i have them in my Cabotswood boots) [http://www.welligogs.com/Wellington_Wellies/Warm_Boot_Liners_AND_Socks.html/url] Just my findings in the quest to banish blue feet! The Dogmother
I have some excellent 'proper' wellies (Lowthers or Stormwells), which I wear in the real wet - they have thermal inner soles and I always wear thermal ski socks inside them. I have narrow feet, so find muck boots too wide and bulky (Karen, they now have muck boots in Crofts).
