Kirstine
A facialist (at my only ever facial) advised me to try regular exfoliation. The theory being that people with dry, flaky skin tend to over-moisturise to try and 'glue back' the flakes (ugh) but this clogs the pores and causes spots. If you exfoliate to get rid of the dead dry skin, you can get away with a lighter moisturiser that doesn't clog or encourage grease. This works for me when I can be bothered, of course it would depend on each person's exact skin (and spot) type. I think this is one of the reasons the Liz Earle cleanser with the washcloth works so well - you get a light exfoliation and the cleanser is non-drying so you need less moisturiser too. Redwing
The best thing I ever did was to bin most of my skincare products I use simple shower gel and exfoliate with a thin flannel n the shower I only use Clinique Dramatically Different gel (not cream) as a moisturiser now and my skin is a lot better for it
stoice
I'm not saying it's the same in your case, but it can be a symptom of polycystic ovaries Just googled PCOS and I'm not saying I'm one of those people that reads a book of symptoms and is convinced they've got some major affliction but I think i may have it and think I'll have a chat to my GP. Had painful periods before going on pill. I'm prone to High blood pressure. Lately have been suffering with Anxiety over the smallest thing. (As mentioned in another thread on here) Weight gain - not that i eat like a sparrow but it feels like i only have to look at a cake and i gain a couple of pounds. Spots along jaw line for the past year or so (Not counting the usual spots i still get though) Hairy chin - Majorly embarrasing and i first put it down to a pill i was on but since i have changed to POP because of a tendency to high BP on mini pill it seems to have carried on. I also have very dark forearm hair. My beautician i visited for 6 months of waxing has never known anyone with such stubborn and fast growing hair on my legs and even on my belly. - have gone back to shaving and plucking as it got too expensive. (This is so embarrassing to even write on here, you can not even imagine how tricky it is to hide. I feel so unfeminine.) Oh, here come tears too, so i guess you can add that to the list. bluekarin
it could be the 1st stages of an early menopause. Emma.x Oh joy! Hope not My mum's didn't start until her mid 50's so I was using that as a guideline. I do hear what you are all saying about the moisturiser, but I really can't ditch it. I exfoliate when I have a shower and I am also using Simple exfoliating face wipes every morning and night, but this is only a recent thing. The rest of my face does feel smooth, its just these dang spots along my jawline. I'll try some off the shelf spot creams and see if I blast them off with that I also tried the oil cleansing method, which I will try again. I only used sunflower oil as I didn't have anything else in the house, and it did make my skin feel nice, I just tended to get some in my eyes, and then my vision was blurry when I was trying to read my book in bed I'll look at what mix of oils to use on my skin type and try again. I don't think it is PCOS as I don't have any of the other symptoms, but I will keep an eye out, just in case.
AJuff
Er sounds really bad but I don't wash my face other than with water in the shower. Soap is too drying and I'm too lazy to cleanse with any type of cleanser. My skin looks great! However if I did get a hormone related spot problem i may try the light therapy http://www.lumie.com/shop/products/clear
Space Chick
I only use Clinique Dramatically Different gel (not cream) as a moisturiser now and my skin is a lot better for it I use Clinque too, 7 day scrub to cleanse, then their clarifying lotion, then the dramatically different gel same as Tasha (although I have treated myself to their age reversing night cream recently too ) and my skin is lovely and clear. However, I do get a couple of spots around my nose when I am ovulating and I have Polycystic Ovaries. So it could be hormonal. If you want to know some of the other signs of PCOS then PM me

Chickendoodle
I too am going through the menopause and although I don't get regular spots I do on occasions get one absolutely horrendous one appearing in different places on my chin area - painful, red and then hugely white Have finally found a solution that absolutely works overnight to stop the spot developing - toothpaste. Just a dab dries it up completely. Don't suppose it would be a good idea on a crop of spots but on the odd one it is magic
The Dogmother
Clearasil spot cream does the same job
C&T
And aftershave.... My Dad's aftershave was regularly "appropriated" when I was a teen.... Same drying out properties. Only at night though - didn't want to smell of it all day!
jam
I am in the joyous teen spotty years and i use clean and clear facial scrub which is lovely because it leaves your skin feeling really smooth. And something which i simply cannot live without is a witchstick. Its amazing! The difference in the number of spots I have when i do and dont use it is unbelievable! Hope that helps
