craftyhunnypie
One hatched! Another is unzipping right now - then there is another that's pipped! The hatchling is very lively, but still in the incy fluffing up! I now have a biscuit coloured one - very cute & fast asleep. I also have an unusual black & sort of yellow one, still a bit wet to tell true colour. I'm thrilled so far. The other pipper hasn't made any progress as yet & there are still 2 that haven't pipped. Fingers crossed eh? Emma.x

craftyhunnypie
I have another chick! Hatched about 20 minutes ago. I think it could be me long awaited red frizzle - as it's very gingery & very hairy! It's sleeping & fluffing up in the incy at the moment. The previous 2 are in the brooder under the electric hen & running about playing. I wonder if the last 2 eggs will pip & hatch? It's not even day 21 until 4.30pm, so there is still hope. I'm very pleased with the hatchlings so far, but I think the black & white one may need flip flops making, as it has one slightly curled toe. Do I just use cardboard & sellotape? Griffin
I use cardboard and plasters. I'm impatiently waiting for any signs of frizzley feathers on mine
craftyhunnypie
!st hatched seems much bigger than other two. Black & white one definitely needs flip flops making, it's a little devil though! - can they walk ok with them on though? The last one hatched has turned from a gingery colour to a gorgeous sort of white long fluffball. I'm thinking it is going to be a frizzle - it's more squat shaped too. Very very cute. Hmmmm names needed! Other 2 eggs aren't doing anything. Day 21 as from 4.30pm. Emma.x
craftyhunnypie
Oh forgot to ask - how long does the chick need to leave its flip flops on for? It's now sporting a beautiful pair of blue Haviana's! I've never had a chick with a curled toe before. It's not very bad - it's just the very end bit. But I want it perfect & to to the best I can for it. It's a right one though. I caught it today at less than one day old, climbed on teddy & trying to escape through the bars of the guinea pig cage. Teddy has now been taken out until chick is bigger. Here they are as they were this afternoon. 1st hatched is front left - looks huge, but isn't, 2nd hatched is the black & white curly toe, 3rd is the cute white fluffy one. Griffin
Unbelievably cute Leave the shoe on for a few days, change it if it gets dirty though.
scarlettohara
My choc pekin had a flip flop when she was hatched and is fine now, the plaster takes the feathers off but they soon grow back. Yours chicks are lovely
Lewis
Verrr cute Good luck with the foot - caught really early so should be fine
craftyhunnypie
Chick with flip flop is getting around fine. 1st hatched is the definite boss I think, although the little creamy white one has some attitude too. I'm pretty certain the creamy white one is frizzle, I can feel a curl in the wing tip feather quills already I think! No more on the other 2 remaining eggs - ahh well. Need to name my chicks now. craftyhunnypie
I'm so pleased. Curly Wurly is growing into the most beautiful coloured frizzle - sort of white/ red / buff - difficult to say properly what will turn out like. I think she's a girl. Penguin is black & white frizzled & dainty like her mummy. I think a girlie too & I'm hoping she will be a mottled. Then there is Bossy, who is looking a bit partridge coloured to me - I am certain it's going to be a boy - comb becoming quite distinctive & cute bright wattles starting - although I have been fooled by these early growing combs before. They are 4 weeks this coming weekend. Extremely lovely. I'm very proud of them. Emma.x
Griffin
Awwwww. My Pekins from you are lovely, really quiet and well behaved little people. A straight feathered black, frizzled black, black mottled frizzle, straight lavender and a frizzle that looks porcelain. I thought the black mottled was the only boy but now I think the porcelain might be too. My friend has his fingers crossed because he'd literally do anything for a porcelain boy! craftyhunnypie
I have to say mine are well behaved too - probably the quietest I've ever hatched. They know when it's lights out time. I put the light on for them from 8am unti 6pm ish - like normal daylight hours. They are in my front room in their brooder, which on these gloomy days seems so dark for them. They are discovering their wings though. I caught penguin on top of the electric hen today. Emma.x
craftyhunnypie
P.S. What sort of colour is a porcelain? Pure white? If so it would be a Donut baby! Emma.x
Griffin
It's not white but it is pale coloured, best described as a whitey pinky minky sort of colour with grey
