I am pretty rubbish at this facebook lark, you may already know this but:

Personal phone numbers are now published on Facebook. Go to the top right of your screen, click Account then Edit Friends. Go to the left side of your screen and click Phonebook. You can then see a list of people's numbers.You can remove your number by changing their privacy settings.(Privacy Settings-Phone-Customize-Only Me). You seasoned Facebookers may already know this but you may know someone that doesn't. I have just told DD to inform 20-30 of her friend's whose numbers are freely accessible.

With the HTC it automatically opens up facebook phonebook, surprising how many people do have their numbers on there!

It has been there for ages, since the start of Facebook in fact.

when you sign up its up to you if put a phone number on! then when you use a mobile to access it you actually get asked ( I did!)if you want to make your number available

so it only shows if you have chosen to make it available.

 

I appreciate not everyone is very good at computer stuff especially social sites but this is why you need to be extra careful. I actually feel really sorry for such sites when people accuse them of publicising info. they only provided the place to do it, but it was you who gave it to them.

I think you're a bit daft if you put a phone number on. I mean why would you want strangers phoning you up. Facebook is a dangerous place without all that anyway.

I didn't put mine on but looking at my daughters teenage contacts I would say that 50% + had their mobile numbers there.

I had one of those when it very first started and the security was even less strict than it is now... I wouldn't mind but I only had the account, I never posted anything. I closed and deleted it all, barred his various emails addresses from my email account and he disappeared in the end.

No, it's a old boyfriend ( i was 13 so 20 odd years ago ) He seems to think he's in love with me.

He has been de friended but still messages me and send friend requests.

Because i had a weird version of Facebook on my iPhone, it had my number on. Thanks for the warning!
