miffy
Is there a general problem with obtaining aubiose? I have not been able to get any for 2 weeks now and today they tell me they are not expecting a delivery until mid november!!
karlotta
One of my local feed stores told me the same, but another has some at the mo.. might be worth shopping around for someone who might have some left...
beach chick
I just ordered some online from GW Titmuss - £9.08 a bag, but delivery for 2 is £14!!
Redwing
I got some the other day but have noticed that it is much more loosely packed than before - a bale didnt go very far!
jess1merlin
I couldn't get any at the weekend had to get Bedmax instead
miffy
it really is a pain, but i'm relieved its not just here. Will phone around, what is the best alternative?
karlotta
Not sure about the best alternative, but it's not Comfy Bed! I had a bag of that recently and it's horrible sweaty woody stuff! Not at all absorbent and gets pongy fast!
MadAboutChooks
Apparently their is a definate problem at the moment, my local place has got in hemcore as a replacement, I have found it quite similar a little co"Ooops, word censored!"r but with a lovely citronnella perfume added to it which is lovely, its cheaper too!, so I am not complaining. beach chick
ordered yesterday, had email this morning saying it has been despatched! so good on GW Titmuss!!
Aga n Chickens
Hello My local store stopped selling Aubiose about 6 months ago and had a hemcore replacement called rappor. The bales of rappor are packed tight and go a long way, and it also has a nice citronella smell. The last bale I picked up cost about £7. Regards, Christine
Mercedes55
We now use Rapport too as our local place didn't have any Aubiose and we actually prefer it, plus it's cheaper which is good
docsquid
I used to use Hemcore, but have now switched to Bliss, which is cheaper still, and smells nice too.

The Dogmother
Aubiose is just coming back into stockists in this coming week - my local outlet has been without it for about a month now. The company said that they were between harvests and having problems getting the raw product. I am down to my last third of a bale, so jolly well hope that it comes into stock soon. Bramble
Only had my girls since July and haven't been able to get any aubiose at all during that time, due to a shortage of the raw materials (apparently). anyway, my local horsey place recommended rapasorb which I'm guessing is the same as/similar to rappor (chopped rape straw) and I'm really pleased with it. I think it was about £7 which is loads cheaper than aubiose and although I've never had any aubiose to compare it with, I'll definitely be buying rapasorb again, a bale goes a very long way and smells very nice too!! Fur 'n' Feathers
We've had problems getting Aubiose recently as well because of the hold up with supply. In addition our local supplier has decided to stop selling it. Our other supplier where we get our organic layers pellets can normally get it but had difficulties and they also do a variety of other bedding. We've bought a bale of Easibed as so many people on the forum use it, but have access to Hemcore and a flax-based product. We'll have to wait to see how the Easibed goes as it's in the garage at the moment, but if there's not much difference in the quality we certainly like the cheaper price AND the dust-free properties. Always ended up coughing when laying Aubiose. Organic systems approved too! It is almost confusing, the array of bedding that's available. The Dogmother
I'd be interested to hear what you think of Easibed - a friend used it but said that it didn't absorb poo and damp as well as Aubiose/Hemcore. I am waiting for a call from my stockist to tell me that Aubiose is back in *drums fingers*

jess1merlin
I would say Easibed is quite good but Aubiose has the edge on as it absorbs the poo better. I much prefer Easibed to Bedmax which is what I've got at the moment. Hopefully Aubiose will be available shortly.
beach chick
mine has arrived, and judging by the weight of the bales I would say it is pretty tightly packed. havent launched into using it yet as we are not yet ready to put girls into WIR and rabbits are fine in there with some shavings. Ailie
For anyone in Surrey, Hengest Farm had plenty in stock on Sunday http://maps.google.co.uk/maps/place?oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&ie=UTF-8&q=hengest+farm&fb=1&gl=uk&hq=hengest+farm&cid=9801168786918168159 £8.75 a bale, if I remember correctly. You'll need to collect if your order is under £100.

helen1962
what is aubiose? If it is a floor covering I found a really good tree surgeon who gave me wood chippings just cut for free! However as these soon became a soggy pongy mess when it rained I decided to line the exposed part of the run with a butyl liner and put a thick layer of pea gravel down. My thinking was I could lift that and rinse it through an old pond planting basket and then scrub the butyl liner. I only put the butyl liner and gravel down today so I will let you know how I get on. The girls haven't seen it yet because they were busy wrecking my garden when I was working on theirs. I put the gravel down in the dark but they had deemed it time to go to bed by then. They did however, help me dig down the 4 inches of the run ready for the liner but felt my flower beds were much more interesting when it came to laying the liner. The hen house itself has newspaper covering the floor to it and then covered with staw which is freshened up daily.
The Dogmother
Aubiose is composed of shredded hemp stalks, so very ecologically sound. It is very dry and tends to deodorise the poo and make it disappear in the run.
