blackgold
I rescued 6 exbatts yesterday but there are 70 more that still need homes. They are at Haslingden Lancashire. The ladies name is Adele. If you could have a couple then you need to register with the BHWT and you could collect them today. They are very bald, spiky and scrawny. I would have more but I have 12 now x

Tweety
Thanks for posting this - I have emailed Adele and arranged to collect some girls this afternoon. My question is how many can comfortably sleep in an eglu? The run size is not an issue as I have a huge WIR and can section off part of it for them. boltonJim
We have 3 ex-batts (coincidentally also from Adele in Haslingden) and they seem quite happy in our eglu classic. Mind you Nancy tends to roost in the nest box most nights.
blackgold
Thanks for posting this - I have emailed Adele and arranged to collect some girls this afternoon. My question is how many can comfortably sleep in an eglu? The run size is not an issue as I have a huge WIR and can section off part of it for them. I have 2 eglus, both in seperate walkin runs. The green one has wooden bars and is 4 years old and so quite small. It is one of the originals. 4 hens sleep in there but I think another couple would fit, just to sleep. I also have a lilac eglu and have had 6 sleep in that one easily, it is bigger inside. In cold weather they cuddle up anyway. In the summer or warmer weather I leave the pop holes open all the time and they can sleep where they like because my runs are designed for dogs and are fox proof. I have just gone out to shut them all in and my new ex-batts are still up. I have put the kennel run lights on and they are eating away merrily so I have left them for a bit. It is so cold and they are so bald but they seem to be ok at the moment.
Tweety
Well I came back with 4 pretty threadbare girls, and they are now safely tucked up in the eglu. There were others collecting girls too so, hopefully, they will all be starting their lovely new lives soon.
blackgold
Well I came back with 4 pretty threadbare girls, and they are now safely tucked up in the eglu. There were others collecting girls too so, hopefully, they will all be starting their lovely new lives soon. Yesterday her shed was full to the brim with them. I could have cried when I saw them, they are all so bald. xxx Today mine have all laid as well, one into my hand as I went to lift her down from the straw bale stored in the kennel/shed. Going to put them to bed in a minute, 2 have full crops, the others are not as brave and I think they are only eating now because the big girls are all asleep in the kennel. I did check to see if they were all eating today and have 4 different feeding stations but at least at the moment you can actually see if their crops are full or not. Hens@HalfMoonLane
I have 4 ex batts in an eglu, there's plenty of room to sleep, they cuddle up and use about a third of the room. It's more the run space , you would have to have a couple of extensions to keep more in I would think. Its sometimes worth getting an extra 1 or 2 just because some are so fragile, saying that i still have one of my original ones who's getting on for 5. Mine are all from Adele too. Barkisland
Got my ex batts from Adele too, and two of them are still with me - one still laying. Would like to have more in future, but not able to collect any this time due to other commitments. Well done to everyone who has rehomed these girls though, it's so rewarding to see them transformed within a few short weeks.
blackgold
They awere still up and munching at 7 pm so I woman handled them into the eglu and closed the door. The kennel run light sare now switched off and hopefully everyone is snug and asleep. yesterday I was toying with the idea of making them little jumpers. They all had full crops, you can actually see them cos they are so bald. One seems to be extra brave cos she came up to me and pecked at my shoes. She also tried to get out of the run when I let the orpingtons and Bams out in to the garden. They will be staying in the WIR until Saturday when weather permitting they will get their very first free-range x
