little Red Hen
I'm afraid that I can't tell you how to stop a cock crowing BUT I can tell you where you can get a cockerel that doesn't crow or poo and costs only £10.00!! Sainsburys Homebase sell a metal copper garden statue and mine looks great stood near the Eglu. The hens seem to like it too.
theherd123
Nice one little red hen! Cant help you out with the cock either - sorry
chelsea
hubby's suggestion is to remove the cockerel at night and place into a dark space - ie -shed/garage etc, then when its light it cannot see daylight - you can then place the cockerel outside at a sensible hour to crow at its hearts content.....but it will probably crow all day. So hope you have understanding neighbours. I would love one.....just need a lottery win and a smallholding
Lesley
Cockerels do crow all day - and start at 4am Sunnyside - on Practical Poultry forum - does keep hers in a specially adapted box under the stairs at night and lets him out in the daytime. Jill
Cockerels definitely crow all day! I had one and even covered the eglu with black pond liner to keep out the light and it still started crowing as soon as it got light. He really protected the hen but also was a bit of a bully with her although she did not seem to mind. He was amazingly aggressive with people and we ended up with loads of bruises all over our legs and he would not let the hen near us as I think he thought she belonged to him and I really missed our cuddles . My dogs and cats would not go near him (mind you nor would I ) so if you do decide to get one good luck!

Jill
Yes he certainly was. We all decided if he was let loose there would be a lot of dead foxes around the neighbourhood . He was huge, his neck ruff would come out and he would run and jump at us throwing his feet up and using his beak at the same time. I am not frightened of many animals but I would not go near him without a broom.
