Oh no.........that's awful. It's getting dark. I must give them their corn and lock them up If I had the room for another cockerel I really think I'd like to give a home to an exbatt one
The Dogmother
Yes, Jude was so cross with herself, Dougal had gone to bed in one of the coops with a few of his girls (he likes to rotate his favours ) and she'd popped in to answer the phone, then went back out afterwards to lock them in and Mr Fox had been to visit The big man had obviously been guarding his girls as his feathers were all around the door to the coop and his wives were safe. J was devastated and is now looking for another big fella... she misses him using the yard as his 'courting ground' and rogering the laydees in full view of visitors Edited January 30, 2011 by Guest

Old Speckled Hen
I may now have more problems, I was having a look at the beehives this afternoon and Flash brought his ladies along to see what I was doing. A neighbour, newly moved in, has just got I think 8 hens...( I pop over along the lane when I am walking the dog to say hello to them). There was a rather loud egg announcement and he stood bolt upright (obviously thinking,"hey, more ladeeeez', and trundled off in that direction loudly cockadoodledooing all the way. The neighbour's boundary from the chooks field is simply a dry stone wall. I called them back but he has definitely clocked the other possible harem
The Dogmother
Hmmm, woudl the neighbour mind her darling laydees being 'serviced' by the lovely Flash?
Chortle Chook
Oh dear, Flash by name and nature I'm begining to think that my little Silkie cockerel, Dill, is not quite, well, the full boy by comparison.

The Dogmother
I remember visiting Jimmy Doherty in the early days of his farm; he had this voracious cockerel.. all his wives would run away from him (the cockerel that is, not Jimmy ) and he'd shriek in frustration
