Cinnamon
My girls both use their ipods a lot,bit don't like the little hard round headphones that come with them. They prefer the ones that pop right into the ear,but they just don't last any time at all I have tried cheap ones (£7),replacing them every 6 weeks or so. Then 6 months ago I decided to try some more expensive Denon ones from John Lewis (around £25),& now they have gone belly-up too Can anyone recommend some that sound good & will last a while? debbier
I'd recommend this site: http://www.hifiheadphones.co.uk/ My son recently bought some: the salespeople were very helpful, and not at all pushy when he rang for advice. He bought some higher spec ones, but they have a very wide range, and some useful on-line guides, too.
C&T
I found some Pink ones for £2.99 in Argos yesterday - guessing they are probably not quite what you are after! But I figured for £2.99 they didn't have to last too long.... And no-body was going to steal them from my desk at work! But Argos did have quite a few in their sale - I didn't look at the more expensive ones(i.e. above a fiver!!), but could be worth a peek?? bluekarin
I got some of these half price in Sainsburys just after Christmas http://www.headphoneworld.com/p/JVC_HA-F140_In-Ear_Colourful_Gumy_Headphones.htm in white to replace my ED ipod nano ones. She says they are much better than the proper ipod ones! The sound is much clearer and she doesn't need to have the volume turned up too high anymore. Not sure how long they will last though. I think it is an inherent problem with the connectors going in these things. Especially if you think of how much they are shoved into pockets/bags and the cords wrapped around the devices they are attached to.
Ain't Nobody Here
I've just binned a pair of headphones so am interested to know the answer to this too .
majorbloodnock
I can recommend passing the cost back to the girls and seeing if that changes how long the things last...
The Dogmother
I can recommend passing the cost back to the girls and seeing if that changes how long the things last... Exactly what I did with Rosie; if she breaks or loses them, she has to replace them!
Cinnamon
They are actually really carfeul with them, using proper wire wraps & everything. Its been an ongoing problem for many years......I think that they are just one of those things that are not built to lat. Interestingly & very tellingly,John Lewis do not offer any guarantee on them. I have bought another pair of £25 ones (thank heavens for my discount!), & will gauge how long these last
yvonne
I have always found Sennheiser to be great quality, but have not got any of the tiny ones though.
The Dogmother
Just to illustrate my point (and Major's too) I looked up the receipt form when I purchased my in-ear headphones - 2 years ago and they are still going strong. Rosie's last about 2 months if I'm lucky
Cinnamon
How often are they used, though? My girls use their at least 4 times a day - on the school bus,at home etc.......
Lewis
I've had some Gumy headphones before + really liked them. Got some more from Santa this year With my last 3 pairs of proper ipod headphones, the one ear just decides to break so end up with only 1 side working. Sennheiser are great, not just for headphones but all their stuff we use at the theatre
Cinnamon
I will look in to those then. Thanks for the recommendation
majorbloodnock
Also worth pointing out that £25 for a pair of Denon headphones is a substantial amount of money, and if they failed as a result of not being up to the job of normal use, then they're not "of merchantable quality". Consumer protection should allow you to get your money back.

Consumer protection should allow you to get your money back. Warranty from Denons website http://denon.co.uk/UK/Support/Pages/Warranty.aspx ...although the law on merchantable goods doesn't pay any attention to warranties. Basically, if one could reasonably expect an item to last two or three years and this example doesn't, the manufacturer may well be liable to replace or refund even if the warranty has expired. As a rule of thumb with electrical goods, during the first year the burden is on the manufacturer to prove a failed product wasn't defective, whilst after the first year the burden then shifts to the consumer to prove the failure was due to a defect. Nonetheless, if Denon's warranty does cover Cinnamon (as Bluekarin's post suggests it does), it's a useful first port of call.
The Dogmother
I use mine probably 3 or 4 times a day and sometimes at work if I'm listening to music while I work.

karlotta
I've got a pair in in-ear Sennheiser headphones and they are great - can't really comment on longevity yet but I know lots of people who use them.
Ain't Nobody Here
I've just ordered a pair of Sennheisers from Amazon for £15. I shall report back on their lifespan. Hopefully not for some time .
Clash City Rocker
I use Bose "In ear 2" headphones, 3 or 4 times per week in the gym. http://www.bose.co.uk/GB/en/home-and-personal-audio/headphones-and-headsets/bose-audio-headphones/ The new design has a real snug fit which stops them from falling out regardless of how long or how much exercise I do. alexgirl73
my eldest daughter swears by her skullcandy headphones, but they are a tad on the pricey side. They seem to be quite a trend amongst teens atm as well. You can get either ear bud ones, or proper over the head ones
Janty
I have always found Sennheiser to be great quality, but have not got any of the tiny ones though. I can recommend them too...I've had mine for years and Hughes on-line had some reduced last week.
