Despite miserable weather and very high winds me and OH battled on to construct the WIR and the girls went in last night. I still need to construct some ladders and perches to make it a bit more interesting for them but on the whole we're pretty pleased. Finally now we can reclaim the garden and hopefully let the grass grow back!

I would load up some pics but not sure how to do it and the help thread directs you to Feltham RFC website (all very odd!) Any tips greatly appreciated so I can load pics of the happy girls in their new pad

wow...cant wait to see (no idea how to post pics sorry)

i'm currently waiting for mine to be built then I can get my 1st lot of hens..

good luck!!

Brace yourself for the onset of Morehens disease! You can never have enough of the little fluffballs. I floated the idea of a couple of new girls to the OH at the weekend and he didnt dismiss it (very promising!) Am now fantisising over the choice between frizzles or faveroles... or maybe a new silkie or two...

 Sadly my 4 will definitely be the maximum-we cant fit a bigger run...however if we could... :silenced: I would love a frizzle-just because they look so silly..we have 2 rescued persians-i always thought how ugly they were and could not understand how anyone would want a cat like them...but now i love them!

I know what you mean about not being bothered about the eggs. Our little girls do lay lovely eggs and I make scrambled eggs or omlets with them because it would seem rude not to use them, but there is lots more to pet chickens than the eggs.

If you are uncertain about whether to get a frizzle or not, take a look at last week's thread Calling all fans of Hob"Ooops, word censored!". Now there's a delightful little golden frizzle. Talk about 'I want'. My little white frizzle is the sweetest little girl, she comes when she is called and takes from my hand and talks away to me and to herself all the time. I just love her. But a golden one too - now there's a thought.

Congratulations on your new WIR :D .

I've had a look but can't find the wrong link you mention - can you tell me which help thread it's in :) ? I use Flickr to upload my photos - others use Photobucket (I prefer Flickr  ).

The help links are in the sticky thread about 'uploading photos - Read This' Theres two sets of notes from Fred about Flicker and Photobucket. Both links direct you to the Feltham RFC website. V odd indeed! :?:

Finally cracked how to load pics! Here's our new run. Its looking a little sp"Ooops, word censored!" at the moment but we are planning perches, ladders and branches (hence we constructed it with the bracing bars on the inside of the run so we can screw into them easier.

I cant wait to start making it fun and pretty (maybe with the addition of a new lady or two)

Thanks for the kind comments. I makes such a difference to the girls quality of life and to my peace of mind. I can let them out everyday into lots of lovely space without the worry of foxes and other nasties being able to hurt them.

I cant wait to get going on their toys and platforms. I feel really sorry for my poor little silkie who cant get a better veiw at the moment unlike the other girls who can fly up onto the different levels
