Chicken,pork,duck not free range

Beef IS grass fed ......I have checked with M and S on a previous occasion so I'm happy to eat it.

 

 

It all looks yummy and lots of fish which is nice . I'll be in tomorrow.

Sometimes their £10 meal deal menus are a bit chicken heavy

Looks lovely but the veggie option has mushrooms in and I HATE MUSHROOMS! Sorry for shouting, but I really do hate them, and judging by the number of mushroom dishes as the veggie option in restaurants etc, must be the only vegetarian in the world who does!

Got the M&S one today - lovely big pieces of Sea Bass - going to have the starter Scallops around them with lots of salad

 

I have never tried those Charlie Bingham pies on the Waitrose one,but loads of them go through the till,so they must be good!

Hubby and I went in today and for Mondays meal we are having the Coquilles St Jacques, for our main 2 Whole Seabass with Coriander & Red Chilli Butter with gastro chips, passion fruit heart for pud and a bottle of Chablis to wash down the chocs I wanted the Beef Wellington, but they'd all gone, and we were in there by 11am! Would have been £38 full price

Haven't bothered to go to our small one and not sure if i will as the selection will probably be pants.

Scallops, Seabass 520g pack - they vary hugely! Pea, bean & Veg medley, Melt in the middle choc puds and Chablis.

 

All out of Raspberry Panna Cotta and Beef Wellington, I didn't see any Coquille St Jacque either, but I didn't search for them - was very happy with the look of the scallops.

 

If you are going to M&S you might also be interested in the Oakham chicken and apple pie for £5. The shelf was clear when I was there. I never know, but I'm sure you'll tell me....is the Oakham chicken free range or otherwise ethically reared?

Can I just say...the choccies are heavenly.

 

They had it all in stock in Reading today and quite coincidentally I got exactly £20 in vouchers from my M&S Mastercard today,so it cost me not a penny

If I do get another one I plan to go early. The Beef Wellington was sold out at 11am in Warrington today!

The Beef looked tempting.

 

On the other hand...changes heads likes Worzel Gummidge....Could I create a 4 course meal for 2 with wine for less than £20....I feel another thread coming on....

Cinnamon, you aren't supposed to eating the chocs now, they are for Monday !

 

I have just watching the clock, M&S by my work opens at 9.30 and I hope they have stocked up over night, my sis said it was mobbed last night and all the scallops and beef had gone. I need to time this just right, I don't want to be the said sack sitting outside waiting for the shop to open !

I can only get down there at the weekend and they are always out of stock by then

 

redhotchick, I don't think that Oakham are freerange, I remember having a conversation with my mother about that - they have a pretty 'freerange type' label but unless it says free range, it's not.

I remember a programme about the chicken, they were saying how miss leading the labels were, I would give it a miss.

 

Just been down to Mark's and the Beef Welly is all sold out Never mind got the lamb instead which looks looooovely, scallops all gone too but I wanted crabs (hee hee)

Anne, a lot of the fish in M&S is farmed, the sea bass for example. The best thing about M&S (and why I shop there when I can) is their labelling - it's really clear to see where products have been sourced and how they ended up wrapped in plastic. I'm hoping they're going to change their stance on tuna soon and swap to pole and line rather than just line catching.
