Bramble
Pushed myself hard today & managed to knock 4 minutes off my 6.1m route . 1 hr 02 mins I've run 114 miles since starting training on 11 Feb . ... ...
sparkysmum
Hi folks, everyone for all the training. If only politicians could put the same effort into reducing inequalities...........but that's another story. Re music, I can't run a step without it or at least the radio to keep me going. Has anyone tried AudioFuel. It's a bit weird. I have an hour of it & I have to say it's OK but if you don't like electronica its not for you. I don't but it's still helpful for getting into a rhythm. I think you can download some free. I'm not naturally a solo runner, I much prefer company but lack of time, too many commitments etc has conspired against me and I just jog along with Daisy these days and sometimes Simon I tried a wee run today after Sunday's injuries & found that I'm still sore. Will have another go on Friday. Keep on running. Alli xx
Bramble
So, week 5, run 2 completed last night did find it quite hard, but really don't feel too bad at all today which is great. Im already starting to wonder though if its possible to run slower than I can walk, that's how it feels Trouble is, I'm scheduled to do my first 20 minute run tomorrow (without a walking break) and I'm dead scared I won't be up to it, the most I've done before is repetitions of 8 mins running, walking break, 8 mins running etc. Any tips please? Ain't Nobody Here
Well done . Re the 20 min run, I would stop building it up into something you have to achieve. So what if you have to have a wee break in the middle? You can always try again as often as you like and you're bound to manage it. You're doing brilliantly to have got this far - there's no hurry to get to the next stage .
Bramble
Thank you! I'm getting in a tizz about the 20 minutes, it'll be the first 'run' I haven't completed 'properly' so I'll be gutted if I don't do it, but as you say, I can keep trying 'til I can do i, so I'll see how it goes! jlo
Bramble - I would echo what Vicki has said. Don't get down on yourself if you have a break - it really is no big deal. Your heart will still be pumping faster and you will still get benefits. There are days when I have to have a break after about 10/ 15 minutes. In all honesty, the first five to ten minutes are usually the worst for me anyway and I wonder how I am ever going to get round! You will get there. Vicki - as ever - I am in awe!! My running has been put on a bit of a hold since the arrival of Paddy our new dog. We have been out on lots of walks and I have tried jogging with him for a few minutes at a time. The problem is that he will suddenly get a mega interesting scent and jam on the brakes - at which point I will be pulled to a halt. Once I have had him for a while and can let him off the lead, I will go along with him more often.
Bramble
Thanks jlo! I can't run with my dog either, she's a retired greyhound so her idea of running is about 40mph for 400m (ideally chasing a bunny/squirrel etc) then collapse in a heap on the floor, the word 'jog' is not one she understands! Ain't Nobody Here
Riley used to be great to run with as he was always up ahead but now he's getting on, I'm always having to look behind to check he's still keeping up . Bless him, I still enjoy running with him though .

Just under 3 miles there, really hard step class then zumba. Luckily I got a lift home again .
Ain't Nobody Here
7.33 miles in 1 hr 18 mins. Quite interesting to download the Garmin data - you can see your average speed/max speed/lap times etc.
sparkysmum
Vicki, that's great your half should be a doddle, well done. I'm back to having a jog about with Simon & the dogs. Not the best preparation for a half I know but, hey, it's fun .

jlo
Looks lovely. OH took mutt out for a walk this morning and it suddenly occurred to me that I had better have a run as haven't done anything since a week on Thursday! Well - I have done Boot Camp and been on lots of walks but I haven't run. Five miles in 54 minutes but I did walk up the really steep bit

(Whoops, I called it the Loch Level Half Marathon .) It would be fab if you did come along - if you've got bikes it's a lovely cycle round the loch. Well done, Bramble . sparkysmum
I've entered !!! but as I said to "another forum member who I think should enter too" I have no illusions about running the distance. I am just entering to have a great day. Having been out for a short run today I'm not that sure if I want a place In the lap of the gods. Keep on running. Old Speckled Hen
sparkysmum, I entered five maybe six years ago KNOWING you didn't get a place first time round.............. Hah........... I was that worried about getting round and the possible ignominy of having to be carried off or having to get a free tube ride back to the finish that I didn't enjoy it. I have spent the following five years trying to get a place again so that could enjoy it. You have the right attitude......... just have a great day. Few people are carried off
