Has anyone seen Mamma Mia on stage - updated, went yesterday!

Recommended Posts

My Hubby is MAD on Mamma Mia - he totally loves it, which for a 6'2" hairy builder,is pretty unusual :lol:

Anyhow, after coming home from work last night & finding him watching it again,I thought I might take him to town to see it on stage, for his birthday next month.

Just wondered if anyone had been, what they thought of it,& if they had any tips on where to sit in the theatre?

I have seen it twice. At first I thought it wasnt as good as the film but by the end it has grabbed you :D The first time I was in the dress circle where you get a really good veiw of the whole stage but the second time I was in the stalls where there is more of an atmosphere. So it depends on what you want. My Oh and teenage boys love it too so it isnt that unusual it is just that none of them will admit it

Ive seen it :D

really enjoyed it, would highly recommend it. we saw it at Newcastle Arena - so it wasnt like a "normal" theatre - so cant really help in the position of seating. but I dont think it would make a difference where you sat :D

go on - get tickets - you will love it :D

I saw in Cardiff in December with my parents. They bought the tickets for my birthday so got good seats, we were about 10 rows from the front.

Is a really good night out, is a bit different from the film, bit weird in places, but a good laugh. I'm not all that bothered about the film, but I really enjoyed it. You know the music's going to be good anyway :D

Seen it twice in London. Brilliant!

I always like to sit at the front of the dress circle if poss. Sat at the front of the stalls once and found myself looking up the cast's noses! Also the woman next to me decided to open and eat a packet of cheese and onion crisps during a very quiet part of the show! :wall: Some people!

We went yesterday & had a wonderful time.

Our seats were just perfect,& we had an amazing view - the whole production was so slick & well thought out that it was a joy to watch.

Inevitably I blubbed big time through 'Slipping through my fingers' (it is so sad for me,as it makes me think of my eldest who is leaving to go to Uni soon :( )

We also did the 'Duck Tour', which is, IMHO,the best fun :P

Our tour guide was hilarious,& ...... get this.....we saw Prince Charles in his flashy car while on the tour 8)

Both activities are highly recommended.

Priscilla next!!! :P:P:P

So glad you enjoyed it all and to get to see old Charlie too :lol: I love the duck tour too - I actually learnt quite a bit about London and our guide was funny too.

Priscilla is absolutely brilliant. We had such a laugh when we saw it. Next to us were some Italians who were singing along in a lovely accent. In front of us were a group of German men who sat there stone faced almost during the first half (they actually looked like a shot putting team) but in the second half even they started singing and jigging along. We couldn't stop smiling afterwards.

Wicked doesn't appeal to me either,I am afraid.

I have been looking into Tickets for Priscilla, but you can't book your actual seat, they just allocate the bast available in the price catagory you have choosen.

I get real panicky if I am not by an aisle,so I am not sure how to proceed really

Glad you enjoyed, MM is on my list to see. We're off to see Priscilla next weekend - can't wait!

If you book via the box office and explain about wanting an aisle seat they will probably be much more helpful (and cheaper) than a ticket agency - I've always found box office staff in most theatres really helpful. Failing that consult Theatremonkey for a seating plan (search by show or venue) to see the location of the seats that the ticket agency/box office are offering you. I never book any tickets without consulting the Monkey and he has never let me down.
