Alis girls
Suspect its due to being a bit out of sorts - I did some shopping at the supermarket ( wont name it - not one of the big 4 so you can hazard a guess) yesterday - had a fair amount of stuff. The woman behind had 5 items and they dont have a 10items or less area. So the assistant said she could go in front of me as it is company policy! I asked her if 5 people were standing there with 5 items would she allow them to push in front too? She couldnt answer that. The woman took longer to pack the 5 bits away than I took to pack my bags. The assistant then said I couldve refused to let her go in front. Fine telling me after. I told her I felt I was being penalised for having more goods and the policy stank. She said nothing but wished me a good weekend - I felt like giving her a slap. If I'd felt less unwell I would have demanded to see the manager and give him a piece of my mind (he probably wouldnt want it! ) Anyway rant over - just wondered if anyone else had come across such a stupid policy - whats the point of queueing if this happens? Egluntyne
Why not complain at the Customer Services desk if you are unhappy about the way the matter was handled.
Alis girls
I will if it happens again - just felt so under par yesterday wanted to be in and out. Frankly I dont think they would care
jlo
I am thinking that they should be getting a "10 items or ...fewer" checkout as it seems a bit daft to force customers to abide by company policy! I admit that I am sometimes in a dilemma when I have a basket in that situation. If I have a full trolley and I am still unloading, I will happily let someone in behind me with a couple of items. However, if I only have a few myself, I tend to think that it will take as long for us to faff about as it will for me to just go through. Cinnamon
You should certainly write a letter - send one copy to the store manager & one to the Head office customer services manager. I had a situation like this just this week - my customer nipped off to get something (I did offer to get someone to fetch it for her) & the person behind asked me to start putting her shopping through instead I didn't,as she had heaps,& she couldn't just push in front of someone....as it happened the other lady came back very quickly,& I had started putting her shopping through for her,& had started packing it too. You would be amazed at how some people try to push in front of others sometimes......... I don't for one minute believe that this indeed the policy of the supermarket you went to - I think either that cashier was misinformed or making it up
craftyhunnypie
People are going to start using their local shop more if this is what Supermarkets are doing. It'll be worth paying the extra for friendly, helpful service! Honestly - such daft policies & rules these days! Emma.x
