ust found it in Celia Lewis' illustrated guide to chickens; a millefleur barbu d'uccle

Thanks Percy049, nice to know. I love their socks!

Being a lady who grew up in the 80s wanting to be an Angel (preferably one of the perky blondes) I also love the names :lol:

Thanks everybody.

Lovely! 'Scuse my ignorance but I'm new to this - what are they?

Ummm, to be honest I wasn't sure either  so thanks Percy049. (I was told but couldn't remember and looking through the breeds I thought they were millefluer booted batums)

What lovely angels they are.

:D I wasn't sure if theme would be obvious! Though I suppose 'Bosley' is a bit of a give away. It's Mum's fault, she calls the Pheasant who visits the garden Charlie so....

gorgeous! what a handsome boy he is, bet the ladies love him!

They never seem that impressed actually but they soon come running when he calls them over to a tasty titbit he's found.

:D

He does look rather smart (well I think so anyway), especially when the sun catches his comb and feathers. And he is a darling looking after his girls except when he... umm... well... dismounts a little clumsily; I'm sure I've seen him step on the girl's heads on occassions :!:

His crow isn't bad, maybe a tad screechy. However he does make some other odd noises at times, like wants to crow but he has larengitus so only manages a strangled squawk or maybe he changes his mind just after he's started. Thankfully, so far only one neighbour has complained about him, and that was only because he was waking them at a some unearthly hour in the morning. Now he sleeps in the shed they only hear him in the afternoons which they don't mind.

My cockerel is a sweet little fella but a bit odd looking and sounds like a strangled cat

Awww, I 'm sure he is beautiful. What is he? Or is he a bit of everything?
