Charlottechicken
She passed away in the night I knew the end was nigh, when I came home from work yesterday she was off her feet, so I spent some time with her before putting her in the Eglu to roost. Checking on them later on, I found Duck, my large black Maran, with her wing over Bossy, in a protective manner, they have been roosting like that for a couple of weeks. This morning she was dead. She was my original Omlet hen and 5.5 years old. RIP old girl.
squiffs
Sorry for your loss But what a brilliant innings, 5.5 years is a grand old age for a chook I'm sure she had a lovely long life with you.

Mum
Oh Sweetie, I am so, so sorry Little blighters, they really do get into your heart and its such a loss - which non-chook owners can never understand fully. Sympathies ((hugs))

Stevie Adams
Sorry to hear that, I only had Eddie for two weeks and she had to be put down on Thursday. It was an awful feeling when my partner told me. I was at work so it all happened in a couple of hours. People don't understand how you can get so close to a chicken - one person even said "it's only a chicken". Maybe she'll be looking after Eddie for me, after all, she was only a youngun
