Representing yourself in court - Very Strange Update

Recommended Posts

it sounds like a complete nightmare, but also as if you are getting on top of it. hope the new solicitor comes up with the goods - and I agree ex should release cash to pay for essential maintenance to your home.

will your mum go with you on the day?

I'd rather take my dog  My mum is fairly mad  You aren't actually allowed to take relatives, haven't checked about pets though

The good news is I have an appointment to see new solicitor tomorrow for £80 for as long as I like - so I'd thought I'd move in with him, he is young (well younger than me) and has long hair and likes surfing. Can't go wrong really  Seriously though will ask him to try and get an adjournment so I can regroup and take his advice. Oh and I thought I would take Squeak and her 4 sabelpoot chicks into court

Sara still think mad mum might swing it for you esp if the judge is sympathetic. A couple of appealing chucks and a doe eyed doggy might too. I remember a pick of Fi Fi? - have I got the right name - a stunner if I remember rightly. Anyway joking aside good luck Ali x

10 days ago I made an appointment to see a legal aid solicitor in St Albans on 1st Aug. Today at 4.30 pm I received a phone call to see they would be cancelling the appointment as there is a conflict of interest involving my ex. As far as I am aware he has never used a solicitor in St Albans - recently or when we were married. To say I am angry is an understatement :x I think it would have been more professional to let me know when I orginally made the appointment, as they asked his name then not at this late stage.

I've just changed all my passwords for about the 5th time as my fb account and hotmail have been hacked into before, don't see any other way he could have found out - I didn't even tell the boys who I was seeing as didn't want to put them in an awkward position - not that they speak to him anyway. Debs - you and be both, I'm going to bed early and taking a sleeping tablet otherwise I'll go mad thinking about it

I'm sorry that this has happened, but It is very unlikely that there's anything sinister in this. It's quite possible that someone at the new firm has worked elsewhere and come across your husband. It's not likely that he could have 'influenced' them, how on earth would he be able to do that?

Solicitors don't turn down clients lightly, but you'd have been even more upset if you'd been to see the firm and then discovered that someone working there had some knowledge of him/his affairs. There are a few Legal Aid solicitors in the St Albans area, why not ring the firm you were going to see, and ask them if they can suggest someone else? I can understand that you're upset, but don't let this put you off.

I've had a good nights sleep and feel a lot better. I only mentioned the influencing part because my neighbour's daughter found that her ex had been to every legal aid practice in St Albans and surrounding areas to that she couldn't then use them

Thanks again for good advice and encouragement :)

Just wondering ... is there the slightest possibility that he could be reading this thread and spiking your guns?

Yes which is why I changed all my passwords again, I won't be putting any specific details on here anymore. The solicitor above is already acting for me so now known to him/his solicitor. I don't think he can get into my laptop as it is new and there is no connection to his, but I found out after he left that he and some others had hacked into a friends account so I will be very careful what I say from now on :talk2hand:

Good point Sha!

He may even have joined the forum.

It might be best to just let particular friends know specific info and updates by pm.
