Redwing
Our two goats have been escaping and we didnt have a clue as to how they were getting out as there are no platforms near our fences and the fences are 5ft high! we've been round checking again and again for gaps but couldnt find any Hubby went up to the field a couple of days ago and saw them both out in the larger part of our field, when they saw him they ran back to the fence and squeezed through to their part of the field Not remarkable you may think but we have stock fencing! thats a hole less than 6 inches x 5 inches!I know they are small but even so thats an astonishing feat of flexibility I came home from work to a note that said 'the goats have been getting through the fencing, they are in the stable shut in......they are staying there till they grow'

craftyhunnypie
How the hell have they escaped? Climbing up the wire? This worries me as I want goats, but have heard they are escape artists. I want pygmy goats. At the Green Dragon Pub at Buttington, near Welshpool - they have goats. They are only kept in by about a 4ft fence & never attempt to climb out. Hmmm. Perhaps if I locate them near the stream, they'd be ok? Will be watching this post for updates. Until then perhaps they should audition for the Penn & Teller tour? Redwing
They have been literally squeezing through the stock fencing holes! I wouldnt believe it but husband saw them do it, head in first turned 45 degrees, legs crossed and placed through then hips turned 45 degrees and a wriggle and they were through! they are pygmy goats but are 5 months old
Lewis
I can believe that! They had 5 bar gates at the farm that the goats used to be able to squeeze though, hence the pens in the goat shed being solid wood or sheet metal around the edges! craftyhunnypie
Oh no! So how can you actually keep goats in? There must be a way? Emma.x
The Dogmother
you'll be lucky Emma! If they want to get out, they will I used to regularly arrive at my grandfolks to hear shouts of 'goats on the loose', and if they don't want to be caught, they won't be

meezers
you need to make them wear some kind of head gear that won't fit through the stock fence- that'll fox them
