Farmer Don
I started off my chicken keeping with 3 at home in an Ebay purchased classic. Then got the bug and moved them to the allotment in a WIR and added so my flock is now 11. Changes in personal circumstances mean it will be difficult to get to the plot every day in winter so am moving 6/7 hens home. Going to build a WIR and had pretty much decided on a purple cube. But - now I have just noticed that you can buy a classic without a run and I could get 2 for a similar price to the cube. Downside of having 2 classics is they may all try to pile into one of them and get squashed. Good point of having two classics is I think I prefer the look of them over the cube as I am worried the cube is a bit big. Any thoughts? clucker1
The cube is easy peasy to clean out as it is all at hip height, ie no bending down. And they might all decide to have a party in one eglu. I have 4 girls at the mo, and it was fine for them over our last cold winter (I did wonder if it might be too big), but had heeded advice from this forum about the contagious morehens disease. Getting 2 new girls in September...woohoo!!
UKMARCH
Hi, I'm going through the same dilemma myself at the moment but my worry was that they might try to squeeze into one or worse just leave one on its own in the other and I don't want the worry of remembering to check them every night to see if they're ok so am thinking more of the cube which will require some modifications to our run but will hopefully save time and worry in the long run. Also I thought it may be just as quick to clean one cube than two classics.
Ain't Nobody Here
I have an eglu classic in a walk in run with 5 girls (recently was 6). They don't actually sleep in the eglu so it's only used as a nestbox (a very expensive one ). You could always just buy one eglu and see how they get on. If you got 2 and they all slept in one, it would be a bit of a waste of money having the second one! You could rig up a second nestbox using a pet carrier or box of some sort if need be. My eglu is on a table so is also at hip height .

ThinkingChickens
I had a Go and three girls. I bought another Go and three more girls and the first night they integrated all six wanted to sleep in the go. We just designed an entire WIR around two Go houses so this is a dilemma. Maybe for Christmas I'll ask for a cube.
