KateC
Hello again! I have two hybrids which are almost 23 weeks old and two that are almost 20 weeks old. One of the 23 week old ones, the little blacktail has started to lay but the goldline which is also 23 weeks is showing no inclination at all. The 20 week old bovan neras are not laying yet but I am wondering why only one of the older ones is obliging and has been for a couple of weeks? I think they are fascinating little characters and total time wasters! Spend every spare minute with them or on this website.

percy049
It is usually 18 - 24 weeks before hybrids start to lay
Mercedes55
Our 4 pure breeds were about 30wks old when they started to lay, not sure if hybrids start earlier or not, but I was beginning to think they would never lay and then they all started to lay within a week or so of each other
sjp
I've got 4 cross breeds that I hatched in January one laid bang on 18 weeks old the other were all laying by about 21 weeks their just 26 weeks old tomorrow and they still haven't settled in to laying yet ones laying double yolkers about every 4th egg which isn't good for her. the shells of all 4 are a bit on the thin side as well I'd much prefered them to wait another 4 weeks till they had finnished feathering up
tracyann
Hi ya, look for the wattles and cones to get nice and red, you know then there is not long before they start to lay, give them time they won't lay until they are ready!!
hopingforchickens
I was just about to post something like this about mine, I've got 3 hybrids, my amberlink has been laying for a few weeks now but the other 2 don't seem like they ever will they are all around 23-24 weeks old, the suspense is killing me. I was quietly excited today when I approached my copperstar and she sort of crouched, could this be the sign...?
