Well done  I too entered items at a local show this weekend. Carrot cake, scones, pancakes and meringues..........and got nothing :( I must say I did not hold out much hope for the pancakes as they really were only fit for the girls  My mum used to make great pancakes and when I was making them I could imagine her looking over my shoulder despairing of how awful they had turned out. The other items were ok though but I was up against a lot of very experienced bakers.....well that my excuse

Thanks for the encouragement :D Of course I still have a whole lot of carrot cake left at home because I only needed 3 pieces for the show......I just keep tasting it to see how I could have improved it  (Bang goes the diet). The girls diet isn't that hot either with all the pancakes

Hi - will take pics tomorrow, as it has been my nephews birthday today too & I've only just got back from the party.

Won't be much cake left by tomorrow, but will photograph whatever there is & my handicrafts, plus prize cards.

Lots of guinea pigs being shown - I can't wait to get my guineas!

There was a beautiful silver double laced wyandotte bantam there too.

I loved a stall there selling vintage bits & bobs, tea sets, tablecloths, teapots & quilts. 8)

I admired all the home grown flower entries...loved the Gladioli & sweet peas entries - stunning!

There were some amazing entries in the childrens classes - such creative youngsters, which I love to see as I worry that crafts might become a thing of the past. :(

Had a lovely day - this is the 1st show I've ever entered & it's given me the confidence now to try others.

I'm sure your carrot cake is scrummy. I don't know how judges decide at all? I mean there was a fabulous looking fruit cake that didn't get placed & some scones too. It was some that didn't look so good that got placed & don't know why or what they look for? So don't give up!
