Plum
She sounds a real character. I wouldn't worry about putting anything on their combs if it's just a scratch it should dry by morning and heal quickly. they have a good blood supply. If you have some antiseptic like purple spray then use that. Take care they're not bleeding or it'll attract pecking. If it was me I'd continue to attempt to isolate a bit longer then introduce slowly with you on hand to break up any squabbles. Unless like my recent girl she jumped over my shoulder after 2 days and was in with the others
Olly
Congratulations, I'd missed the post about you bringing her home. I would continue to keep them separate, not so much for the quarantine as to make the introductions easier - the more they can see each other, but not actually fight, the easier it will be. Gradually introduce joint free-ranging time, and let them have the odd fight as long as there's no serious damage.

squiffs
There must be something in the air this month! She looks lovely, hope she settles in okay. She's a feisty little madam just like my Xena, it was worrying seeing them tussle at first, but they're settling down now

MissPug+Chooks
Hello thanks she doing great! Her comb and wattles are gettin more deeper red everyday Shes is properly mingling with them now without too much problem; when shall i sneak her in at night? She wanders off on her own at night back to her quarantine pen bless her...shes been into the eglu so knows it exits! Would i be better locking her in the eglu run in the eve so she follows the girls? Xx
sadietoo
just caught up with this thread and so happy you have decided to adopt Polly she is lovely... I'd maybe wait a few more days before integrating them at night....... in my experience the longer they have had to get used to each other the better it goes.... WitchHazel
How's Polly doing?
MissPug+Chooks
Hello! Its gone really well! Polly was fully integrated a week ago and now you wouldn't know that she is the 'new' hen - they look as though they have all been together for ever! Polly's comb and wattles are now a nice deep red rather than a pale human skin pink colour which is a good sign and she has got the hang off layers pellets too! We had a dodgy few days when we had the heatwave where she just laid in the cool dirt patches and slept A LOT of the day despite being offered water and food...she just wasn't interested. I noticed hat she started puking slime with grass in so helped her a long the way of emptying her crop and the next day (with a bit of probiotic yoghurt) she was back to herself and not had a down day since! She lays beautiful big brown eggs of which are going down very nicely at the yard where I keep my horse - everyone wants to buy Polly Polly Eggs! We are planning on building a WIR however avaries4u said that we are too far away so I'm trying to convince my OH to build one - although he can hardly hang a picture on the wall eventually we'll get one I think! It would be nice to have some more chickens once we have the WIR and I might upgrade from a to a if we get more - just need to ensure I can sell the eggs! All in all a lovely story and I'm chuffed that shes entered our lives - we always know which one she is when they are under the kitchen window due to her 'husky' voice! <3 xxx

daxigirl
I was reading the initial page and thinking take her home, take her home. Then I saw that you had added her to your signature, so you already had, lovely story so glad it's all worked out for the best.

It has made a lovely start to my weekend I'm so glad you gave Polly Polly a happy, fox free home! I can see that she may also have set a trend for more chickens
