yvonne
Saw some of this last night and was quite impressed - most critics are just that and not prepared to do the thing they criticise themselves. I'm sure she's not as personally involved as the show suggests, but it's good to see her have a go herself and interesting to see behind the scenes of a big dep't store. Was it just me or was the older lady with smokey-eye make-up frosty pink lipstick and short blond hair quite scarey !
Chucky Mama
I had to turn it off as she really annoys me. I find what she says often makes a lot of sense but the way she says it and the way she acts is quite fake.
The Dogmother
She used to be a window dresser at both Harrods and then Harvey Nichols so I guess she knows the business and has been around long enough to know the trends. I know what you mean about being irritating though.
pips_pekins
I love her! I think she is very watchable and she clearly knows her stuff - having always been in retail, isn't she now a retail consultant? I watched all the earlier series, which I really enjoyed, so was waiting for this one. I love the way she is with some of the more eccentric folk she meets and she comes across as someone who really likes people and not just the spotlight . I also enjoy watching Alex Polizzi for the same reasons; she can be very funny.

Lesley
I loved the bit where the two curvy ladies made mannequins of their body shapes and told Mary to design her clothes for those and then downsize to a size
yvonne
Did anyone else thing the "arm hosiery" on last night's show was a dead ringer for something in Dragon's Den a couple of weeks ago ? (Also, I'm sure one of the ladies who she asks to review the line used to be the MD's PA where I used to work)
Bramble
I know just what you mean, I think the Dragons'Den one was more of a sort of sleevey thing, where as Mary's were more "tights for arms" (I know what I mean but it's very hard to explain!!!! ) I'm not sure I thought that much of the clothes though, especially that red "T shirt" type dress, the first model to try it on looked like she was wearing a nightie!! Lesley
I just went to look at the 'No Brainer' dress as I noticed it comes in PURPLE and I need something comfy to wear when I'm doing craft fairs............ Apart from not being able to afford it, which I was expecting, the range only goes up to a size 16 She's made a big thing about the exclusion of over 50s from the fashion world - I thought the whole ethic was 'clothes for women, not girls' ? hmmmmmm. I'd probably get away with that particular dress as it's loose anyway but I wouldn't even bother with the rest of the range Disappointed!! - off to find an email adress........ ...and while I'm having a moan.......I found a purple top in Isme last night for £14.......tried to order online but the registration form wanted my first name......why? - I always just use 2 initials, they don't need my first name, I'm not about to become bosom buddies with whoever picks up my order........ and then it required my date of birth..... WHY?? I don't mind ticking an age range box but am not giving my exact dob! I looked at the drop down for the year and it went back to 1893 Tooooooooo tempting So, in went my fictitious birthdate and the year 1900.........20 minutes later it was still thinking about it Another email to write Back to Ebay where no-one cares what my name is, what size I choose and what my age is! Grumpy Old Women here I come! (actually, I've been there a long time! )
The Dogmother
Intrigued as to what all the fuss was about, I looked at her collection online - there's nowt in it that I liked and it's far too expensive; I wouldn't pay that much, not even when I worked in London and needed a corporate work wardrobe. Tweety
Although she can be quite irritating, I do admire Mary Portas and what she is trying to do. She was on a hiding to nothing as far as the critics were concerned, and I am just glad that there is someone out there trying to do something different. Admittedly the clothes are not for everyone, but you know what you are going to get from Mary and It clearly appeals to a fair number of women. Good luck to her, I hope it is a success
