Egluntyne

Flaming June and sodden July

Recommended Posts

Revived by my nap, I went out to wash the eglus to find that Kim had gone missing. She had escaped from the garden and when I went round the side of the house, I found her in the middle of a large playing area of grass. I suspect she has been popping out there frequently because she wasn't at all nervous and DEFINITELY did not want to be caught. After much crawling through the bushes, we managed to get her. She's now shut up in the pen, so I can't clean the eglu.

Instead I have scrubbed our new eglu in preparation for the new chickens, which won't be yet, but at least it's been disinfected. :D

Well it has been nice here too, actually sunny, since yesterday afternoon. Well timed too as I went to see Ozzy at the NIA in Birmingham last night and it's not the done thing to turn up to a rock concert with a brolly 8) Being the good chicken mother I am too I was still up at 6.30am to let the little darlings out as well!

They don't suspect I was out on the razz :D:D:D

I saw Ozzy on the news last night Claire - he looked on form :D

The strange thing is Lesley, he doesn't stumble over his words whilst onstage, singing or talking to the crowd, but he appears to be eager to please everyone, and I suspect his speech during interviews, when he is out of his 'comfort zone' so to speak, could be a nervous thing. :?

It was a good gig though, I found a nice youtube link and may post it if everyone's ears will stand it! :D

I can hear again now, couldn't last night

Well, I have never seen anything like it!

Today has been so warm and lovely, we had all our friends round with their children to kick around in our back garden. We all ate al fresco and had a really lovely day. At 6pm, it started to go dark and a really funny calm came over everything.

All in 5 minutes, we had the biggest clap of thunder, followed by huge sheets of lighting and the biggest hail storm you've ever seen. Hail came down the chimney in the kitchen and rolled onto the floor, leaving small puddles of water everywhere, which is amazing as we have a big welsh dresser covering the open chimney breast!

The back garden is now one big open-air swimming pool

.....just the most bizarre weather.

My goodness Gina - I didn't see the hail! Like you we have been in the garden all day but I brought the kids in when I heard the thunder clap and left OH to tidy up the barbie  No wonder I could see him running round the garden! He's just confirmed that it did indeed hail on him.:oops::wink:

We had a gorgeous day on Saturday lovely and warm

We went up to Old Trafford to watch Genesis, a lovely sunny evening, it was light til nearly 10pm

Sunday was the same, we went to choose a new stair carpet, I say new, we haven't had carpet on the stairs for 7 years  We will be living in luxury form next saturday :D

On the way home we went to our town show, it was brilliant

Lots of cows, pigs sheep, goats and chickens

Very impressed, there were huge displays advertising 'proper' food and big recycling displays as well

Harry enjoyed the motorcycle display team 8) even though they couldn't do their full routine as the ground was so wet

A very enjoyable weekend :D:D:D

We had a lovely day yesterday too, there were clouds but no rain and some really warm sunshine. I still felt bad so didn't do a lot but as the rain held off we did manage to get in the hot tub - twice! (Yes it is better when it's cold but it makes you feel better when you are rough).

Oh hark at me with my posh lifestyle - previous owners spent a ridiculous amount of money buying it and then left it behind as they emigrated to Aus. Lucky us!

Its been another lovely day here, cloudy at times but no rain. Of course I've been at work so only seen it from the window and now I'm home but too tired (from "teaching" just one lesson) to do anything in the garden. Seeing the doctor tonight to see if they have any ideas about the tiredness.

The reason for all this wet weather.....

"The reason for the recent wet weather has been the Jet Stream. This conveyor belt of strong winds, way up in the atmosphere, has steered a series of low pressure systems unusually far-south for this time of year. So instead of hitting Iceland as it would normally, they have cruised across the UK, depositing plenty of rain.

As a result, the 'Azores High', which often visits our shores at this time of year bringing pleasant summer sunshine, has been kept at bay.

So unless the Jet Stream buckles and heads back north again - we may have to get used to more of the same"

Has the jet stream moved because of global warming??
