Guest
Our public transport is outrageous isn't it? How can it possibly cost £200 for a train journey?
starboyhull
It is such a rip off, when you consider how cheap you can get some flights for.......
Guest
Which is all down to government subsidies. It should be subsidising the trains and not the aeroplanes.
Egluntyne
I agree 100% Ginette. My niece, who is an impecunious student is going to Newquay for a week with her pals. Cost on the train from Manchester ....over £100. Cost of flying....£49 return. What motivation is there for someone like her to go by train. Guest
Half the price! It's just so wrong!!
starboyhull
If Humbersider had the cheap flight airlines it would be so much cheaper to fly......Andy once had to go from London to Perth, it was cheaper and took just under 2 hours to fly, was going to be something like 6 hours and over £250 to go by train.......Where do they come up with these prices..... Plus now they are trying to blackmail people to stop them flying as itthey say it affects the environment, what a load of rubbish.....Im sure more people would use the trains instead of cars and planes if it was cheap enough...... Egluntyne
Cloudy but bright if you see what I mean, with just the occasional spot of rain here. Spent yesterday afternoon digging trenches in the back garden to allow the water from the last deluge to drain away. It worked very well. The engineering world needs to know about me. Also cleared the path of all the debris which was left last time, to allow the anticipated gallons of water to drain away. Am working on the theory that if I didn't prepare, we would have water lapping over the back step again, but if I did, we wouldn't.
Cinnamon
It was lovely here yesterday - bright sunshine & really warm. I even spent an hour on my new Sunbed (its rained since we bought them ) reading a book. Today its vile - warm, sticky & very wet. The daughters are both off into Reading with their pals for the day............rather them than me

I'm just about to go and do the same Egluntine - and hope my work will be in vain I have to dig a trench to take the water away from the new steps which so conveniently channelled all the water towards the house
Gallina
We have been very lucky with the weather in Oxford until today, and of course it is the weekend. It's so unfair ifn you have to go to work in dry weather and stay home in wet. I even had to water all my outdoor pots on Thursday night, as they were wilting with thirst. But I have just looked out of the window, and it has stopped raining and the sky is very bright. There is hope.
susanbb
Downright awful here today. Despite that ,the girls were absolutely desperate to get out and free range. They have now seen the error of their ways and gone back in Susan Hope July is sunnier...won't hold my breath
Guest
It's 17 degrees, dull, dreary and wet here. Dead miserable and we have two weddings at church today. I'm sure they must have thought that 30 June would be fairly safe, weather wise!
Guest
'Tis pouring with rain here, freezing cold and thick mist. Of course, it's the first weekend of our summer holidays, so what else would the weather dish up for us!
