fluffy chick
I wish I could get my fluffy feeters to settle like that when I'm doing their feet I normally end up wetter than them!
Wolfie
It's a hard life. That's one pampered chook. I let my gang out of their covered Walk In Run this morning so they could mess around on the lawn - but one of the Cream Legbars just did not want to walk on the haw frost - tootsies cold Mummy! Banus
Bathing Chickens? From this post this activity seems quite popular. Never done it - should I be? I use a large plastic box (stack and store type) with 5" of dry fine topsoil in it for them to bathe in. I'd have thought I'd be told off for bathing my girls as it washes away all their natural oils / protection etc etc.
Plum
Yes you're right but Redwing shows hers. I wash mine if they get caked with droppings for any reason to prevent flystrike in summer otherwise they love their dustbaths
fluffy chick
I only wash the feet of mine as they have feathery feet and can get mud balls and are more prone to scaly leg so keep an eye out for this at the same time. Same as plum I wash their bottoms too if they need it but must admit to resorting to scissors to trim dirty feathers on the really fluffy ones a couple of weeks ago as I didn't want to get them wet and cold. My other half wouldn't allow the chickens in the house
