Silkies - so excited!

Recommended Posts

Well it's chucking it down here in Welling, Husband and eldest son have just gone off to climb Ben Nevis (as you do) and I am now going out to clean my run and get it ready for my two new girlies Daisy and Lily who I am adopting from Chubby Chook next week. not ideal weather conditions but is my only free day so has to be done, dont think the big girlies will be impressed when I oik them outside.

obviously I am only adopting the two most beautiful hens to help chubby Chook with her plan to sneek more Polands into her garden, She almost had to force me to drive a five hour round trip to take them off her hands. So from next week I will be an official member of the Silkie club

Did I mention I love Chubby Chook even though I have never met her yet.

Plum, Charley dove has decided to stay out of chook reach now. There is plenty of food in his own bowl without him needing to peck around with the chickens. I guess you could say he has learnt his lesson :eh:

Margaret - I am so worried. What if either Daisy or Lily don't suit, when you have come all that way . . . and done a clean out in the rain too :anxious: I'll do my best to make sure you have a good day anyway, but above all you must not feel that you have to have either one of them. I'm sure we can sort something one way or another

After a really happy Saturday afternoon between me, my OH, Margaret and her DH, Dinky Silkie (re-named Lily) and Frizzle Daisy set off to their new land. (see Margaret's post) I don't think they could want for a better home :D but my little troop does feel bit depleated. All the same, I think, at least for now, I'm gonna stick at just 7 chooks as with all this rain Poland Dotty and my two remaining Silkies are taking up a lot of hair drying time

The really good thing is that, thanks to Margaret, little Daisy Frizzle is now free from naughty big cockerel Dill pulling her head feathers out. . . He does seem to have been looking for her but I know he'll soon latch onto another favourite - hopefully one more his size

Here is Daisy before Spring came and Dill took an interest in her
