anyone LOCAL with an eglu to lend/hire? (Warks or around)

Recommended Posts

I know there's a thread of people with eglus to loan - but nothing within a 60 mile radius from what I could see :(

Just incase there's anyone in Warks, Northants, Coventry, North Oxfordshire...

I need to isolate a very hen-pecked lady as her "friends" have now drawn blood and she's getting fairly bald - I've tried purple and anti-peck spray, but don't seem to be stopping it.

Good job you did!!!

I was fearing an invasion of dinosaur relations :lol: And then, once I *knew* what it meant I was

ETA: Actually Debs, do not isolate the one being hen pecked - isolate the aggressor so that their place in the pecking order is undermined. If you isolate the "victim" it will have a null effect. Find the aggressor, isolate her and then, after a period of "detention" :shameonu: , reintroduce her to your flock. If she is still being an aggressor, isolate her again, and for a bit longer; then re-introduce. The pecking order will realign itself! If you isolate the victim, you are only storing up further trouble when you try to re-introduce.

I've just had to google ETA now :doh:

The problem is that I'm not sure which is the bully (doesn't help that I have 4 pepperpots)

I thought it was "Amy", but it might be "Martha" (can you see the Doctor Who theme in this house? ) Spent a while watching them today, but having covered Rose in purple spray they all seemed to be having a peck

if she's had blood drawn it doesn't matter who started it as they will all join in if they see fresh blood.

remove the hen pecked one asap so that the others don't cannibalise her. When she's better you can see about removing the bully - should you find out which one(s)

I agree with laurmurf.

I agree too.

When I first had chooks one was bullied and blood was drawn, I kept her apart until she was healed. You see a different and not very nice side of your lovely chooks when there is blood :( .

In the end I had to resort to a bumper bit for Ebony, to stop her pecking.

It the chicken is bleeding you need to sort that out first and then decide on how to sort out the bullying issues. Good luck :D

Thanks everyone. I know I need to get Rose isolated to give her a chance to recover, but failing to get additional accomodation .

She seemed a bit happier today and the purple coating is doinb a gd job of hiding the blood, no sign of any more pecking. I suppose I could section off a bit of the WIR?
