MummyHen
I have finished the other side of the front and have cast on a sleeve There must be smoke coming off your needles Come on and post a picture - you must show us the progress; pictures, pictures, pictures (I know you can do it as I saw the lovely photos of your recent jumpers) I've been cooking for the freezer so haven't done much knitting today - I am crossing my fingers that I have enough wool I did add 4cms to the length and am toiling with the idea of long sleeves (If I do longs then I will certainly need more wool) so will decided this evening and get on to Purplelinda and see if she has any of my colour left
Jennifer Jane
I will still be knitting this time next year This is my progress a couple of days ago: I have done a few more rows since then, but have been out and about most of the holiday. Space Chick
That is a gorgeous colour Jennifer Jane Mummy Hen - it's just curled up pieces at the moment may photograph later 1st sleeve is done now I think I have become a bit obsessed, but we go away on holiday on Friday and I now have the urge to finish it and take it Back in work tomorrow though... craftyhunnypie
Space Chick, when I finish my cardi, I might be tempted to be super duper cheeky & post it to you to do my sewing together! Pretty pretty pleeeeeeeeeeeeease? ( beg, beg). I am hopeless! I would make you something lovely in return you understand! Emma.x
Space Chick
Emma, you know I'd be happy to do it..... But I am still very very much an amateur at this malarkey and would hate to ruin your cardy How about we met up in say Carmarthen and have a coffee and a chat and I can sew it whilst we meet and chat? That way if you think I'm doing a pants job you can steal it back Also, I accept no responsibility for any blood shed, I'm useless with pins As an update, I'm about half way through the second sleeve and the clock is ticking if I finish the sleeve tomorrow after work, I can sew up on Thursday night (out weds) in time for it to go in my case wish me luck as we leave on Friday Also, I overdid the amount of wool and have loads left... MIL has suggested knitting a matching camisole of make a twinset
Couperwife
good grief Debs superspeed knitter girly ive messed up i ordered wool for a M, but I started knitting a S im hoping that I might lose a bit more weight and the S fits me or its going to be a pressie for my mum oh well, ive nearly finished the back, so im not going to frog it now cathy x
Space Chick
My husband is a genius he said that if I don't sew it, then why don't I sew it on the train to heathrow on Friday then stick it in my case when we get there Operation new cardy for Vegas could be a definite goer people Cathy - as an open cardy, maybe size isn't as crucial and the small will be fine
Couperwife
yes, fingers crossed on the sizes, either that or im going to wire my jaw
craftyhunnypie
Cathy - I wouldn't worry. I measured my lady bits & was shocked when I realised the Small would accomodate them. However, I have gone for the Medium size to play safe. Only done about 5 inches of my back so far - slow knitter I am. Debs - will see how I get on whilst you are in Vegas. If I'm still struggling, then yes a meet up in Carmarthen sounds ace! Have a fabby holiday! Will you be bringing some American wool back with you? Space Chick
I quite possibly will be bring wool back... Who knows might???? If I see a shop that sells wool then probably don't know if the strip Vegas malls with though Did call to Hobbycraft near my sisters earlier and got some end of line wool on the cheap I may have started sewing my cardy together
craftyhunnypie
At this rate, you'll be travelling in it Debs! I haven't had chance to do any more to mine today. Emma.x
kazmac
Oh dear I'm waaaay behind with mine! Hoping to do some more of it later today though
Space Chick
Don't worry Kazmac.... I've only finished mine as I keep setting myself strict timelines I'm hoping to be able to post a picture later From looking at the sewing together so far, it sizes quite big I think I did a test guage thingy too Can't decide what to cast on next though I'm going to take some knitting on holiday with me, as it won't take up much room in the case I have, I think, just about enough chenille wool to knit a camisole... I have 2 50g balls in Purple and 2 in Pink.... I may start that
Couperwife
wow well done Debs ive nearly finished the back, but i stopped for a few days so i could decorate. going to pick up this afternoon and see if i can start on a side or sleeve or something does anyone do both sleeves together - at once? i remember my mum telling me that if you do them together then they are guaranteed to be the same length ive not realised that i have enough wool to do a long sleeved cardy, so i need to decide what length sleeves i want. i might do elbow length cathy x
Space Chick
My sleeves are elbow length... and the same length... but I counted rows to ensure that each sleeve had the same number of rows... none of this measuring with a tape measure marlarkey!! This is what I love about knitting, i like short sleeves.... so now I can make as many short sleeved garments as I like
Purplemaniacs
Well done Space Chick. I have just finished the back The back looks rather big Chrissie
chickencam
Ooops I seem to have bought 14 balls in green shade from Black Sheep, only £1.68 per ball, bargain I don't feel too bad though because I did get £25 from my BIL for my birthday, put to good use me thinks. Now I just need to finish my jumper which I have been knitting for about 3 years, it is nearly done, so I might be able to do it before my new yarn arrives, I now have a good incentive. I have a massive yarn stash, I inherited a lot from my Gran, but I just don't seem to get time to knit, I have found time to do a lot of reading recently so I will have to use that time more productively. The jumper that is nearly finished is made up of oddments and all done in k2 p2 rib so hopefully this pattern will be similiar, it is also in stripes, so I have had to keep an organised chart of where I am. I was going to finish it last week when we were away but I took my knitting but left the pattern behind because it had fallen down the side of the sofa at home So I am in on the cardy challenge
Space Chick
The final cardy It needs an iron to help its shaping but it does look better than the photo. Close up of the stitching... It's gone in my case now
Purplemaniacs
Well done Space Chick, glad you got it finished in time It looks very cheery in those colours. Chrissie

MummyHen
Ta dah!! Finished - well 99% done. I'm not sure what to do about buttons - I think I will wear it for a few days and see what works best. I added 4 crochet puff flowers and really like the ways the yarn pooled with the stripes on the arms and the mirror pooling on the front. Pleased overall - thanks spacechick for a lovely knit along. I have posted more photos and details of the changes I made on my Ravelry project page MummyHen on Rav
