Olly
... some little red pointy peppers that were growing in my greenhouse. This was puzzling, as I didn't plant any chilli peppers, as I don't like them. I checked the plastic label that I'd stuck in the growbag, and it definitely said 'sweet red bell peppers'. Intuitive brain said 'they are chilli peppers', but logical brain said 'the label doesn't say that'. I foolishly let logical brain override intuitive brain, and bit the end off one. H-H-HOT yup, they are definitely chilli peppers! I think I was sold the wrong plant!

Egluntyne
Here is my first attempt at growing sweetcorn. Looks pathetic. It is posing next to a teaspoon. Tasted fab.

lisa33
I'm glad it's not a good year for sweetcorn. My friends who have been growing it on their allotment keep bringing the little ones round for the chickens. The girls are loving it. Egluntyne
The potatoes were an unexpected find. The Russets fell on me when I was mowing the lawn. There are millions more, but they are quite small. The crab apples are the first lot from the little tree which just about comes up to my waist. The spuds are peeled and some of the apples are now apple sauce.
Guest
I have harvested 900g potatoes today. These were grown from old potatoes which had gone to seed, rather then 'proper' seed potatoes. And we have eaten as many already, so I'm really pleased.

The Dogmother
Hmmm, you may have inspired me to get a crab apple tree Egluntine We came back from Norfolk via Dilly's house and with a bag of ruby chard and sweetcorn for the chooks; they shared it with the bunnies and both loved it.
