Lesley
My son has just acquired an enormous leather recliner for his flat, via freecycle - the leather is in excellent condition and all the mechanism is fine but it really smells of dogs, cigarette smoke and Febreze! It had been outside for a couple of weeks covered with tarpaulin but it was damp underneath the tarpaulin. He's washed it over with warm soapy water and dried it and has covered it with a towel so that he can sit on it but we really could do with any tips, on removing the smell........ soapdragon
What about a nice strong smelling beeswax leather cream...that will have the benefit of giving the leather a good feed and, hopefully, remove the smell ! Good luck and well done...it sounds a real find !
The Dogmother
Try wiping it thoroughly with white vinegar, then washing with biological laundry liquid.... this works wonders with dogs which have rolled in fox poo, so ought to work on his chair Perhaps the odour is in the wadding? Lesley
Hmmmm...I make beeswax polish so I'm sure I could find a recipe for furniture cream.......thank-you.
Lesley
DM - he's going to take the wadding to the launderette tomorrow - they are too big for a normal domestic machine......I had thought about tomato ketchup as that's good for removing the smell of fox poo as well! The Dogmother
Your PM is working but it will stay in your out box until Lesley collects it, when it will move to your sent box
Lesley
........and now I've found both of them Thanks, I'll wait for your recipe and then compare with one I've found in my 'natural cleaning products' book and see which is likely to have the strongest cleaning action and deodorising properties!
