keyhole kate
As a child I frequently spent time In the Orkney Islands on a farm with a couple I called auntie & uncle I knew they wern't blood relatives but were somehow connected to my Granny I have recently thought about them and the happy times I had as a child anyhow I was nosing around on a website relevant to Orkney when a name caught my attention I vaguely remembered visiting a family of this name when I was about eight and guessed they were somehow related I emailed the person in question and reeled of my story asking if this meant anything him or his family lo and behold I have been contacted by his grandad who says he is a second cousin to me through my Granny I am thrilled I hardly slept a wink last night he is sending me all his info on the work he has been doing on his family tree plus some photos of him and My grannies relatives. I have so little family left I am thrilled to bits

Valkyrie
That's great! A couple of months ago out of the blue a lady contacted me from New Zealand. Our great grandfathers were brothers - she also is still in touch with the Australian side that we did know about because of a legacy that my dad received, but didn't know there were still rellies out there!!! It's funny how the closer rellies become more distant - and the distant ones become closer!
