Other Forums - who likes what?

Recommended Posts

I'm a mod on a mainly dog rescue forum and I've run my own horseracing forum for five years. The racing one has always been very small, and we all know each other and meet up when we can. We all originated from another forum, have 'known' each other online for at least eight or nine years and I love them all. On Facebook I have over 200 friends but the majority of them are people I 'know' from forums

For me it is only Omlet and Facebook. Omlet is such a friendly place and has knowledgeable members. Also Omlet is ... nice, so unlike many other forums where they appear to be diseased with trolls, spammers, ads, viruses etc.

I did register with Practical Poultry, but I quickly felt out of place and came running straight back here

As for Facebook, I have 385 friends  out of which I only know about 80. I was (in my opinion) quite a Facebook addict, spending around 2 hours on it most days of the week. But I recently decided to seriously cut down on it on account of exams and the like.

I also became more aware of privacy on Facebook. Now, don't dub me as an old, technology incompetent coot that thinks people can hack your bank account just by seeing a picture of you on the internet  but, when I thought about it, anything you put on the internet, isn't really private anymore, so I really cut down on the information I put on Facebook (birthday, current location etc.)

I am registered on a few forums but never post. I am in the process of deleting my details from them as I am cutting back on time spent on the internet.

I pop to Omlet most days but haven't posted here since the beginning of May :? I am a daily visitor to the Down To Earth forum and Rhonda Jean's blog also called Down To Earth.

I registered on Facebook so I could get details of new fabrics arriving at the local fabric store, big mistake. People keep asking me to be their friend :? I just don't get Facebook. Twitter is a mystery to me as well.

I used to go on CJ wildbird foods forum such a lot. Then I found this and the chickens, so usage dwindled. Then Facebook, but really I use that mostly for playing stupid games and occasionally arguing with DD. Just lately dwindled off quite a lot of everything - apart from a stupid game but I like the people that play with me and humour me - one from Holland that's sooo funny and one from Omlet that already knows I'm bonkers helps a lot! Tis nice. And we can swear! Not me of course.:angel::angel::angel:

My children use facebook and if I need them to get hold of a parent it is faster than phoning.

Horse and Hound is my only other vice , good for the dog and horse! The odd chicken question comes up and I have directed them to Omlet before as have others. Quite a few omleters on Horse and Hound.
