patsylabrador
Forgive my manners but someone recommended these books but I can't remember who and they are great. Finishing 5 and just got 6 in the post. I also read Bones of Avalon which is a story with John Dee and Robert Dudley - again, great. The author Phil Rickman really knows his stuff and weaves absorbing stories around facts. So, Thank You Omleteer.
soapdragon
Merrily Watkins books by Phil Rickman are fantastic - quite dark and quite spooky but so readable! He is a great author and one who I just want to e-mail and say 'Write Faster'; it is helpful, tho, if you can read them in order simply because there area few references in each book to the others! WitchHazel
Thanks for the recommendation, I've been looking for something to get into. Have downloaded the first MW, and will start reading it this week.
WitchHazel
I've just completed the fourth book and have downloaded the fifth. For some reason, the fifth is only £1 (the 2nd, 3rd and 4th were all £4.19). Maybe people waver at this point and the bargain price is to encourage people to keep going. patsylabrador
Wow. You're a fast reader. I'm so slow I irritate myself, I sometimes have to re-read a whole page to make sense of it. Takes ages, I'm only a quarter through 6.
WitchHazel
I'm finding it difficult to put them down. Its not that they are page-turners as such, I just find them easy to read. I think I'm reading them "in the moment which means that in a week or two I will struggle to remember which plot happened in which installment, and I won't remember many of the non-central character names. We've also had a couple of days of gorgeous sunshine, and I've been sitting in the garden watching chickens and reading. It's surprising how much reading one can get through. I haven't started the fifth one, although I downloaded it as soon as I finished the fourth. I'm trying to get some other tasks done! I also see that there is another series which crosses this one (Simon St John's story is told in "December" apparently)... I'll wiat until I've exhausted Merrily I think.
