Ain't Nobody Here

Jess is going to school today!

Recommended Posts

I work in the secondary department of a special school for autistic kids. The drama teacher (who has wacky ideas at the best of times  ) is having a "bring your pet to school day". I was going to take Riley but he'd have to spend most of the day in the car (which he hates), so I decided I'd take Jess instead.

I just hope she does nice pickupable poos and not splats :anxious: .

Fantastic! I hope the kids enjoy her company

I've taken chicks and chooks into the local hospice..the patients loved them....I was going to take some in last Friday but had to call in sick :( ....I've also volunteered to help DD & DS's prep school to hatch eggies next year....that means a few visits beforehand methinks  should be fun :anxious:

She was a little star :D . She was so calm, she let me hold her under my arm at assembly while all the kids asked questions. She had a small group come to the English room to see her and they all had a stroke. The only poo she did indoors was when everyone was out of the room  . She spent most of the day in the courtyard (till torrential rain came on) having a lovely time digging under a tree 8) . Quite a few kids came out for a look at her then too. I put her back in the box after that - she escaped while I was out of the room but the English teacher just let her wander about till I got back  . She was a bit hit with everyone 8) .

That's just gorgeous :D

I'm glad it went well, what a star your Jess is!

We have bantams at the primary school where I work and they recently hatched some eggs, the 'lads' have just been taken back [by the lady who supplied the original birds and the eggs for them when one went broody], leaving us the girlies.

To my amusement the chicks are frizzles, which led the school secretary to ask me when they might lose 'those funny baby feathers' and turn into 'proper' hens

That courtyard looks a nice, secure space for school hens...

Yes, it would be (apart from the pond, which I covered with a massive tarpaulin - Jess showed no interest in it anyway  ). Sadly, we're only there temporarily while they rebuild our "real" school after the roof blew off 9 months ago (Edinburgh Council aren't the quickest when it comes to repairing schools  ). Hope to be moving back in a few weeks though (we're not holding our breath though!)
