snowberry
I had to install/enable some active x control thing on my computer the other day for some software I was downloading. However, nothing seemed to be happening & the advisor from the company told me to do x, y & z in the active x control bit in internet settings on the control panel of my computer. This didn't help either. I rang them again & spoke to someone different who said that my I.E. should be the 32 bit version, all the previous advice I'd been given was wrong & we got it sorted eventually. However now, on all the sites that I go on, I see words underlined, which contain links to spammy looking sites & lots of dubious looking adverts all over the place. I'm sure this is to do with the active x control as whenever I go onto FB a yellow box at the bottom of the page appears that says that only secure content is displayed (because I changed the setting in there from http to https. Can any enlightened person help me sort this mess out? Thanks, Em
Geoid
On the Tools menu, click Internet Options, click the Security tab, click the Internet Web content zone, and then click Custom Level. In the Settings box, scroll down to the Scripting section, and click Disable under Active scripting and Scripting of Java applets. Click OK, and then click OK again. Or ditch I.E and use google chrome instead.
snowberry
Ooh, thank you Fred! If I go over to Chrome, is there a way I can move over my Favourites from the drop down list? there must be 200+ on it!
Ain't Nobody Here
Pretty sure there's an option to import favourites to Chrome (I'm sure Fred will confirm/deny!). You can't uninstall IE anyway, so your favourites will still be there.
Geoid
Yes, chrome will give you the option to move your favourites over when you install.
RyanR
If you do install Chrome make sure you configure it properly. Google just love collecting your data. it may be a touch faster, but its worse at snooping than IE.
